Default Musical Pairings That Knocked Your Socks Off

I'm thinking of pairing that raised your eyebrows. As in "Wow, I can't believe I'm hearing them after all these years" or "I NEVER would have thought I'd here both of them together" etc....and YOU LOVED THE COMBO and imo IT REALLY WORKED!

I have two that jump to mind:

One is "What Have I Done To Deserve This?" with Dusty Springfield and The Pet Shop Boys. Dusty was in the doldrums with her career when the guys asked her to sing. But what a phenomenal choice it was. It WAS SO GREAT hearing her on the radio - 20 yrs after her heydey - and IMO she was great too. She contributed so much to the musical industy and was a dear woman - who lost her valiant struggle against cancer at 59. I never really followd the Pet Shop Boys until this AND HAVE ALWAYS LOVED THEM for having the great taste to recognize her vast talent and resurrect it. I so love this song.

Another great pairing - and one I NEVER WOULD HAVE THOUGHT OF - was KLF and Tammy Wynette. And both so fabu in "Justified And Ancient- Stand By The JAMS". I just loved her waltzing all thru the video with her crown & robe & the fast moving flashing screen with all her accomplishments. Sadly, this great lady, always plagued by medical problems, passed at age 54.

What are your "knocked my socks off" combos???.......

Maybe not knock my socks off, but shockingly well done: Nelly and Tim McGraw. I was like, WTF?? A rapper and a country singer...doing a duet. Aliens have landed, right? But it really isn't near as bad as I was expecting. Catchy song.

Great topic! One pairing that comes to mind is Amy Lee and Seether. OMG, I LOVE that song, Broken!

I'll probably get dumped on for admitting this, but when I first heard "Cruisin" with Gweneth Paltrow and Huey Lewis, I just fell in love with that song. I don't think Gweneth should embark on a singing career, but her voice is beautiful. I hated the movie "Duets" that the song came from, but I could listen to this song over and over again!

Another Dusty Springfield pairing is the one she did with Daryl Hall when they sang "Where ever Would I Be Without You?", which was played during the credits in the movie "While You Were Sleeping". I wish I could find this song anywhere. I might have used it for my wedding song had I been able to find it.

madonna, britney and xtina at the 2003 VMA's. i didn't care for the kissing (blatant publicity stunt), but i adored the performance. i still watch it sometimes on youtube.
