Sad Does it make you sad to listen to music by dead artists?

There was a thread on another section that asked if you feel sad watching an actor on TV, knowing that they are dead, so I was thinking about this the other day.

When you listen to music and hear a song by someone who has died, does it make you feel sad?

One that comes to mind for me is John Denver. I have always loved his music, but I never actually bought one of his CD's until well after he died. Now when I listen to it, it makes me kind of sad, knowing that he's gone.

Another is Dennis and Carl Wilson of the Beach Boys.

I know there are others, but I'll add them later.

I do sometimes get said when I listen to TLC's music because I think about Lisa Lopes a lot. I also sometimes get sad listening to Jeff Buckley's stuff.

Music

I miss Elvis Presley, John Lennon, George Harrison, Perry Como, Dean Martin,
Bing Crosby, Frank Sinatra, John Denver, Buck Owens and Johnny Cash (and,
I'm sure, many others). They gave us some great music, and I'm sorry
they're not here to give us more.

I don't really cry when I listen to them, but it sure is sad when you know they're not alive anymore. I mean, some dead artists has made really happy songs and it makes you happy and you wanna dance to it, but in the same way, it's sad. I'm sure you know what I mean. For example Baltimora's super hit from 1985 "Tarzan Boy" what a song! And I like some of Laura Branigan's songs and Elvis.

I feel that way listening to Queen, always thinking of Freddie. Same goes for INXS, thinking of Michael Huthence. Same goes for Pantera, thinking of Dimebag Darrell(his was such a SENSELESS death.)

Yes, especially in the case of those who went young (Karen Carpenter, John Lennon, Andy Gibb, Freddie Mercury, and many more).

Then you had Donny Hathaway, Marvin Gaye and many others who were lost due to suicide or homicide. People who had such enormous talent...it's just too sad.

Actually, not to nitpick, but Barry & Robin are still alive. Right before Andy's death though, he was going to join his brothers and the Bee Gees were going to be a quartet.

Also the Beatles. I've never really thought about it, but it's sad that two of the Fab Four are gone.

Queen is my all time favorite band, so I often think of Freddie Mercury. It's hard to listen to Karen Carpenter sometimes as well
