I'm finally going through my DVD of Love Boat, season 1, volume 1 and ran across an episode with Harriet guest starring alongside Ray Bolger as a married couple who happen to be jinxes to the crew. Harriet here was wearing a fairly obvious wig (why? who knows?). I'm sure if Ozzie had still been living, he would have been the one to guest as Harriet's husband on the show as the two had did years earlier on "Love, American Style".
I may one day get the other volumes so I can see the other Nelsons make their guest spots. But this isn't a priority series for me, so it won't be anytime soon. |

I have Season 1 Volume 2 with Rickys appearance. He's paired with Patty Duke in the show. Ricky's an amnesic who's high school sweetheart recognizes him on the boat. He's a 'singer' too, he writers commercial jingles.
I've seen David's appearance once in reruns on TVLAND some years ago. Harriet's appearance I saw not long ago somewhere online. But I want to get all their appearances on dvd. Like you Jude, Love isn't a priority series for me though so it may be a long while. Ricky's appearance was the top priority for me buying the one I did. Davd and Harriet's appearances will be my top priority for buy buying those two volumes. |

A friend taped Rick's appearance for me, but I haven't seen Harriet on Love Boat. I'd also like a copy Rick and Harriet in High School USA. There were 2 tv movies by that name. The first one had David in a small cameo as the school custodian, and that one used to turn up on TBS all the time because Michael J. Fox was in it. The second one with Rick is never on. I saw it when it aired in 1984, and never again.

The one-hour version that starred Rick as the high school principal and Harriet as his secretary was a pilot for a series. NBC aired the pilot in May 1984, but declined to pick the show up as a series. This was at a point when Rick was (as he supposedly quipped) doing "more pilots than a stewardess" in an effort to get a TV series so that he could make a good income without having to tour constantly. One can only wonder if he would still be alive had he succeeded.

That's interesting. I didn't know Rick was making a lot of pilots and hoping for a series. Though I did see a long time ago on TVLAND a pilot Rick was in with Merlin Olsen called Fathers and Sons.

I saw Fathers and Sons. Of course, all this was long before I got a VCR. He wasn't in the show much, though - he played an absentee father - kind of close to real life, huh? He was also on a summer replacement show called Our Time, singing "Travelin' Man" with the Jordanaires and cameo'd in a few skits. Paul Revere & the Raiders were also on that show. A few years earlier, he was in a Love Boat-style tv movie called "3 On a Date". Ray Bolger was also in that one, along with June Alyson, John Byner, and Loni Anderson.
