'Simpsons' Director David Silverman will receive animation award
UCLA is set to honor "The Simpsons" helmer David Silverman with its first outstanding contribution to animation kudo June 6 at the school's James Bridges Theater.
Part of UCLA's New Creative Work fest, the toon gala will also feature a collection of animated student films. Silverman, a UCLA alum, has also worked on such feature toons as "Monsters, Inc." and "Ice Age," and he's won four Emmys for the Fox animated series. Fest will run June 5-13.
