Get ready to laugh your way down memory lane with an array of amazing stars both past and present. Jeremy Piven, Dana Carvey, Neil Patrick Harris, Jean Stapleton, Ron Howard, Andy Griffith, Jackie Gleason, Bob Newhart, Penny Marshall, Polly Holliday, and Redd Foxx are among some of the legendary stars featured when The Paley Center for Media and NBC count down fifty of the all-time funniest catchphrases said on television in a two-hour special. With great scenes from the shows and interviews with the stars who brought the lines to life, this program will celebrate the history and humor of catchphrases.

I only saw the last half hour of this NBCshow, but I wish I would have known it was on. It was hilarious and it covered tons of shows! Some of the shows I'd never watched before, so I didn't "get" the catch phrases, but it must have been fate that I turned it on right when they were doing Seinfeld's Soup Nazi line "No Soup For You!"

The Paley Center and NBC counted down “TV’s 50 Funniest Phrases” in a two-hour special Tuesday night. It was hosted by Jane Krakowski of “30 Rock” and was predictably heavy on “Saturday Night Live” catchphrases.

But it was “Seinfeld’s” “Yada, yada, yada” that took No. 1, over “D’oh” from “The Simpsons” and “How you doin’” from “Friends.”

I take issue with “Burn” from “That ‘70s Show” making the top 10 (at 6), over both “Oh my god! They killed Kenny” from “South Park” and “Lucy, you’ve got some splainin’ to do” from “I Love Lucy.” So what if Ricky never quite used those words, it’s a much better known catchphrase than “Burn.”

I also take issue with “It’s going to be legendary” from "How I Met Your Mother" taking No. 11, beating everything from “Well isn’t that special” from SNL to “Eat my shorts” from “Simpsons” to “One of these days, pow, right in the kisser” from “The Honeymooners.”

(Absent for some odd reason: "Dy-no-mite" from "Good Times.")

“Hated it” is right! “I’ve made a huge mistake” for real. (And if you are going to pick a quote from “Arrested Development” – and I’m so glad you did – couldn’t you also pick “Her?”)

They did a few side genres beyond comedy – reality, action adventure, sci-fi and game shows – but what about dramas? Fuhgedaboudit! I wanted to see “Everybody lies” from “House” at the very least, but they completely blew off the genre. “No soup for you!”

I just caught the last 20 minutes myself, was hoping someone would post these.

I watched the entire show and recognized 26 of the 50 phrases. The Jackie
Gleason clip ("Bang! Zoom!") cracked me up. It was also fun seeing some of
the stars from the seventies then and now. I hardly recognized Gabe
Kaplan with the short hair and no mustache. There was also recent footage
of such stars as Henry Winkler and Polly Holliday and producer Norman Lear.
Pretty cool retrospective.

I watched it but didn't really care for it. Too much Seinfeld and Friends, IMO.

Eh, if you missed it; you didn't miss that much. It was actually kind of a disappointment to see some shows (Happy Days, Friends, Seinfeld, Simpsons and SNL) show up more than once. There's so many they missed, but I'm sure they couldn't show them since they're not apart of the Paley Center Library or whatever. Oh yeah, and the narrator/announcer got on my nerves a few times.
