For the purposes of this thread only, pretend like I - Adam - am the sole owner of TV on DVD. Only picking from shows that I own the entire series of on DVD, I’m making a schedule for a 24 hour TV station. This is a classic television channel. Much like TV Land used to be.
I decide to share my DVDs with all of America. So somehow, I’m able to transmit this channel from my home to yours. This is my first lineup. And I’ll change it every now and then, reporting on the changes much like Pav does here for real. Remember, I’m airing my DVDs of the shows. Each episode is uninterrupted, we a show some commercials in between the shows, most episodes are uncut, that all depends on if the DVDs are in fact uncut. Here’s DVD Land’s debut schedule. It launches this morning at 6am, Saturday May 23, 2009. Enjoy 6:00am - H.R. Pufnstuf (1969-1970, 17 eps) 6:30am - Top Cat (1961-1962, 30 eps) 7:00am - The Flintstones (1960-1966, 166 eps) 7:30am - The Jetsons (1962-1963, 24 eps) 8:00am - Speed Racer (1967-1968, 52 eps) 8:30am - Scooby-Doo, Where Are You! (1969-1970, 25 eps) 9:00am - The Adventures of Superman (1952-1958, 104 eps) 9:30am - Hogan’s Heroes (1965-1971, 168 eps) 10:00am - Lost In Space (1965-1968, 83 eps) 10:30am - Lost in Space (concluded) 11:00am - I Spy (1965-1968, 82 eps) 11:30am - I Spy (concluded) 12:00pm - F Troop (1965-1967, 65 eps) 12:30pm - McHale’s Navy (1962-1966, 138 eps) 1:00pm - The Abbott and Costello Show (1952-1954, 52 eps) 1:30pm - The Andy Griffith Show (1960-1968, 249 eps) 2:00pm - I Dream of Jeannie (1965-1970, 139 eps) 2:30pm - Gilligan’s Island (1964-1967, 98 eps) 3:00pm - Gidget (1965-1966, 32 eps) 3:30pm - The Monkees (1966-1968, 58 eps) 4:00pm - Gomer Pyle, U.S.M.C. (1964-1968, 105 EPS) 6:30pm - The Man from U.N.C.L.E. That sucks for M Squad fans, but that's what will be done. |

Here's today's schedule. The shows will be aired in the order that I think best fits. So The Monkees pilot, will air first as opposed to tenth, where it was broadcast. I won't write up a schedule for every day, just now and then to let you know where I am.
Now some of these shows I don't know the appropriate order for. Star Trek, I'm just going with the DVD order. Good Morning, World I'm going with production order. Either one could be wrong, but I don't know what else to do. 6:00am - H.R. Pufnstuf (#1. The Magic Path) 6:30am - Top Cat (#1. Hawaii Here We Come) 7:00am - The Flintstones (#1. The Flintstones Flyer) 7:30am - The Jetsons (#1. Rosie the Robot) 8:00am - Speed Racer (#1. The Great Plan, part 1) 8:30am - Scooby-Doo, Where Are You! (#1. What a Night for a Knight) 9:00am - The Adventures of Superman (#1. Superman on Earth) 9:30am - Hogan’s Heroes (#1. The Informer) 10:00am - Lost In Space (#1. The Reluctant Stowaway) 11:00am - I Spy (#1. So Long, Patrick Henry) 12:00pm - F Troop (#1. Scourge of the West) 12:30pm - McHale’s Navy (#1. An Ensign for McHale) 1:00pm - The Abbott and Costello Show (#1. The Drugstore) 1:30pm - The Andy Griffith Show (#1. The New Housekeeper) 2:00pm - I Dream of Jeannie (#1. The Lady in the Bottle) 2:30pm - Gilligan’s Island (#1. Two on a Raft) 3:00pm - Gidget (#1. Dear Diary ... Et Al) 3:30pm - The Monkees ( #1. Here Come the Monkees) 4:00pm - Gomer Pyle, U.S.M.C. (#1. Gomer Overcomes the Obstacle Course) 4:30pm - Family Affair (#1. Buffy) 5:00pm - The Wild Wild West (#1. The Night of the Inferno) 6:00pm - The Man from U.N.C.L.E. (#1. The Vulcan Affair) 7:00pm - Honey West (#1. The Swingin' Mrs. Jones) 7:30pm - Get Smart (#1. Mr. Big) 8:00pm - The Munsters (#1. My Fair Munster) 8:30pm - The Honeymooners (#1. TV or Not TV) 9:00pm - I Love Lucy (#1. Lucy Thinks Ricky Is Trying to Murder Her) 9:30pm - The Dick Van Dyke Show (#1. The Sick Boy and the Sitter) 10:00pm - My Favorite Martian (#1. My Favorite Martian - Pilot) 10:30pm - The Addams Family (#1. The Addams Family Goes to School) 11:00pm - The Twilight Zone (#1. Where Is Everybody?) 11:30pm - M Squad (#1. The Golden Look) 12:00am - Star Trek (#1. The Man Trap) 1:00am - Sherlock Holmes (#1. The Case of the Cunningham Heritage) 1:30am - The Adventures of Sir Lancelot (#1. It's funny how you take things for granted. I own all these shows on DVD and I still found myself saying "I'd watch this channel." lol
I can watch any of the shows on this channel whenever I want. Not bragging, just pointing out a fact. |

The ratings are in (already) for our debut cartoon block. It’s a success! Here are some viewer comments:
Steve: I can’t believe these great cartoons are back in my life! This is wonderful. Even watching “H.R. Pufnstuf” for the first time was amazing. I know it’s not technically a cartoon, but I think it fits this category perfectly! Keep up the great work DVD Land. I can’t wait to see what other wonderful programs you have from the 1950s and 60s! Thank you, Steve. Madeline: A lot of these shows I haven’t seen since I was a kid. It’s amazing that they’re all together on this great network. TV Land eat your (BLEEP)ing heart out! This is my new channel that I’ll watch day in, day out. Thanks, Madeline. But please, no cussing. Katherine: Some of these shows have been remade. Such as Speed Racer and Scooby-Doo. But this channel, DVD Land, shows the originals and I think that’s great. Because Alan Reed will always be Fred Flintstone to me (not John Goodman), I continue to watch this great channel. I’m already looking forward to some other shows on the schedule like F Troop, Gidget and Honey West. Yes, Katherine. Alan Reed will always be Fred Flintstone to me, too. Bill: I know we’re just supposed to comment on the cartoon block from 6-9, but I really wanted to mention that I just got done watching the very first episode of “The Adventures of Superman.” It was awesome! I’d never seen the first episode before. George Reeves was the man! I can see Hogan's Heroes is coming on now. I can see this anytime on TV Land. But at least here, I'll see it uncut and uninterrupted. As for the earlier cartoon block, I didn’t tune in until halfway through the very first Flintstones. I thought the early ones were in black and white. They weren’t colorized for this channel were they? Not Cool! Relax Bill. The first two seasons of The Flintstones were broadcast in black and white. However, they were produced in color. These episodes have not been colorized! I assure you. |

I like the idea. Your channel is a little too 50s & 60s heavy for me though (unless you're not counting 70s & 80s as 'classic').
My faves... "Jetsons" in the morning and "I Dream of Jeannie" in the afternoons! "Land of the Giants" is on far too early though! I'd need to set the vcr for that.

Wow! I'm impressed with your collection of shows. Myself--being the organized person that I am--I have, for years, followed a VHS/DVD schedule
of my own (because I, too, have an extensive library, which I rotate). Now that I am unemployed/soon-to-be-retired, I have more time on my hands. This is my daytime schedule (alternating Week 1 and Week 2): Week 1 Mondays 3:30 PM (VHS/DVD) The Three Stooges Tuesdays 3:30 PM (VHS) Saturday Morning TV (Howdy Doody, Pinky Lee, etc.) Wednesdays 3:30 PM (VHS) Great TV Sit-Coms (Andy Griffith, Beverly Hillbillies, Life of Riley, Munsters, etc.) Thursdays 3:30 PM (VHS) Sci-Fi TV (Superman, Batman, Buffy, Incredible Hulk, Star Trek, Twilight Zone, X-Files, etc.) Fridays 3:30 PM. (VHS/DVD) Great TV Westerns (Bonanza, Gunsmoke, etc.) Saturdays 9:00 AM (DVD) TV Favorites (Dragnet, Get Smart, Howdy Doody, Joey Bishop, Moonlight, Tru Calling, Wonder Woman, etc.) Sundays 9:00 AM (VHS/DVD) Wonderful World of Disney Week 2 Mondays 3:30 PM (VHS) Cartoons (Rocky & Bullwinkle, Beany & Cecil, Beatles, etc.) Tuesdays 3:30 PM (VHS/DVD) Funtastic World of Hanna-Barbera (Ruff & Reddy, Huckleberry Hound, Quick Draw McGraw, Flintstones, Yogi Bear, etc.) Wednesdays 3:30 PM (VHS) TV Video/TV Favorites (miscellaneous shows) Thursdays 3:30 PM (VHS) TV Classics (miscellaneous shows) Fridays 3:30 PM (VHS/DVD) Great TV Westerns Saturdays 9:00 AM (DVD) Movies & TV Specials Sundays 9:00 AM (VHS/DVD) Wonderful World of Disney As far as prime-time goes, I watch broadcast TV mostly; with the notable exception of Saturday nights: Week 1 8:00 PM (VHS) Movies (pre-recorded) Week 2 8:00 PM (VHS) Movies (self-recorded) Anyway, that's my lineup (and has been for a number of years now). |
