Default HERE'S LUCY - Season 1 on August 25th!!!

Although tvshowsondvd.com has not announced it yet, I have found the release date along with coverart and it is beautiful.

Not to mention he's the prominent co-star for the last 3 seasons, esp after Desi Jr leaves.....

So Robert, were you the one who tipped off TVShowsonDVD.com? They said reader Rob.......so was that you??

That really is a beautiful photo for the cover -- certainly a nice choice in my opinion, though I too hope that Gale makes it on the later ones.

No, I'm afraid that wasn't me. I figured they just weren't ready to post the news yet...BUT I WAS! When I saw the listing at dvdempire.com, I had to let other Lucy fans know. I'm very excited about this release. I can't tell you how great it is to see too avatars (one under the other) with coverarts from the first season of each Lucy show to be released this summer!!!

Well Joe has HL covered, so I'm keeping TLS as mine until the day it is in my hands!

I noticed this as well! Because he was also left off the cover of the "Best Loved Episodes" DVD, this strikes me as odd. He was, after all, the second-billed star on this series. Not including him on the cover seems like heresy.

When The Lucy Show was revamped to become Here's Lucy, there was much attention to the fact that her real life children were going to play her children on the show. That premise rather differentiated this show from the Lucy show. The cover with Lucy and her children seems appropriate for the first season set, as it defines the new format. I'm sure Gale Gordon/Harry will be on the next cover.

And let's not read more into this that what it is......a publicity shot because Lucy was excited to be working with her real childen. We saw her reinvigorated during those early seasons of HL--she seemed tired of the TLS format where it was constantly Mrs Carmichael vs Mooney with a big guest star thrown in. Here she was back in domestic situations, with her own kids. Sure they were still big name stars and Gale Gordon to spar with, but I truly believe the new format was good for Lucy's morale.

My question is not about what publicity photos Lucille Ball made back when Here's Lucy first launched -- in fact, I've seen some publicity photos she did at that time that included both her kids and Gale Gordon -- but why MPI (and previously, Shout! Factory) chose to use only photos that excluded Gale Gordon. And take a look at this 2006 Here's Lucy calendar: http://search4calendars.com/tv-shows...2006-wall.html

It's full of pictures of Lucie and Desi Jr., but where's Gale Gordon? If all you knew about this show was based on this calendar and the DVD covers, you'd have no idea Gale Gordon was ever on this show.

Well, I like this cover for the first season, but I very much hope Gale Gordon is on the cover of the second season release. Also I hope the seasons come out on a timely basis.

This calendar and box art for the best loved episodes, reminds me of the contemporary merchandising for the Brady Bunch, excluding images of Robert Reed. I thought that was strange, but have since learned from this board that his estate does not authorize his images on these products.
