Other than the "Dick Van Dyke Show" theme-which had a big band flavor, have there ever been examples of jazz in sitcoms, either as background music or as themes?

Ozzie and Harriet, esp the later closing themes. Ozzie loved music and the use of varying styles to set the mood.

the cosby show was famous for having jazz music

Pete Kelly's Blues-Jack Webb was in that, and it was loaded with jazz, but he was playing a jazz musician.

77 Sunset Strip, Bourbon Street Beat both had jazz scores.

Mr Broadway-Dave Brubeck did the music for that show.

The Many Loves of Dobie Gillis and My Three Sons. The later is very interesting in that the piano is playing in a different time signature than the rest of the instruments.

NewsRadio and the last season of Leave it to Beaver, I would call those jazz

I think that is why I was partial to the last season of "Beaver" in part because of the upbeat jazzy transition music along with the opening and closing.

Anyways, "The Nanny" was good for playing jazz music used for transitional music as well.
