"SAW"; First Movies, Then Action Figures, Then A Video Game, and now a Roller Coaster

SAW: The Ride opened up in March 2009 down in Thorpe Park in the United Kingdom; being the first ever roller coaster based off of a horror/torture movie.


The ride setting is in an abandoned warehouse wear you "the riders" are Jigsaw's latest victims.

It starts off indoors where the riders ride pass Jigsaw's torture rooms and tables of equipment. Then Billy the Puppet rides out towards you on his tricycle laughing as the riders ride past him.

Then the riders come across swinging blades which are avoided by a vertical drop. You then ride straight through a room full of spikes, crossbows, and blood shooting at the riders.

The riders then exit to the outdoors where they come across two television screens with a clock counting down to zero. When it gets to zero they hear "Game Over" and then the riders move forward to various loops and drops until they arrive at the unloading dock and then can stop at the SAW Gift Shop for a photo of them snapped from the ride.

Yeah, I hope this gets built in the States too. I really don't know why it wasn't done here in the first place. I'm not really big on roller coasters but I would give this one a shot.

I could see something like Six Flags having this.

I don't think Disney World will be a contender to have this attraction.

I could also see Six Flags having this. I really hope there will be one here someday they are plenty of Saw fans that would to go on the ride and roller coaster fans would love it. I haven't been on a roller coaster in a few years but I love them.

It doesn't even have to be a roller coaster; it will make a great walkthrough attraction, like a fun/haunted house thing, or one of those indoor dark rides.

Well, I hope that the States gets something like this done.

Another type of ride could work. Maybe a cart type ride would work well.

Yeah that's what I was talking about. Those "cart type rides" are called dark rides.

I remember years ago the State Fairs here in New Mexico used to have dark rides that had horror movie themes. They were pretty cool.

I'm a bit of a dark ride nut. I love riding and reading about these attractions.

Thanks for those links. Those sites were pretty cool. My sister is going to Knott's Berry Farm in a few months I will tell her about the dark ride there. I think a Saw dark ride would be cool.

I haven't been down to Knott's Berry Farm in years; well over 10 years ago.

I believe the dark ride there is the Calico Mine Ride. I vaguely remember it but I remember it being very slow-moving and it's pretty much a tour of an old mine. It's very detailed.
