Superman writer Jerry Siegel admitted the inspiration for Lois Lane came from a high school girl he had a crush on, Lois Amster. The origins of the "What--Me Worry?" kid are a mystery. He appeared on everything from postcards to pop bottles before becoming Alfred E. Neuman, Mad magazine's mascot.
