I really don't know but you should just wait and see what the doctor says.

Yes - it usually means you're slighty anemic. Start eating foods with more iron in them. Don't know if spinach is readily available up where you are, but that, dark green leafy vegetables, liver and fish (especially salmon and sardines) are good foods for getting your hemolglobin back up. You can also take iron supplements from the drug store. If it's really low, then sometimes they'll give you injections of iron to bring it up.

That's one of my mother's biggest problems. Not to scare you, but that is the main reason she was sent to the hospital twice so far this year. Keep in mind, though, that my mother has other far more serious medical conditions to deal with besides (the low red blood cell count merely makes all the other problems worse) and, since you are much younger and considerably healthier than my mom, I don't think it should land YOU in the hospital.
My mom simply got prescribed iron pills to take when she was healthier. But your doctor should always keep a close track of your red blood cell count if the problem persists. At least for my mom, it got so bad that she needed blood transfusions each time she was admitted this year. I hope for you that it never gets that bad. |
