Alanis Morissette Joins 'Weeds'
Actually, there's nothing all that ironic about Alanis Morissette joining the cast of Showtime's Weeds. I just really wanted to work that song title into the headline.
Anyway, a Weeds rep confirms that the Jagged Little Pill actor-singer-songwriter has been cast as pregnant Nancy's (Mary Louise Parker) trusted baby doc, Audra Kitson. Morissette will appear in a minimum of seven episodes during the upcoming fifth season (debuting June 8), and could return next season as well. Hey, this qualifies as ironic: I'm told the obstetrician role may require Morissette to engage in "some tasteful nudity."
