I just got a chance to see this show after many years. I have to say its enjoyable and wholesome, but its a bit on the hokey side. Margie schemes to help her dad out and benefit herself at the same time (kinda like what Lucy tried to do for Ricky), but her plans always backfire(just like Lucy's). Gale Storm is good but I thought the other actors on this show had a limited range.
Overall its a decent show that was popular in its day and kinda forgotten now. Its not the best show from the 50's but if anyone is into TV shows from that era I would say My Little Margie is worth watching. |

It can be a fun show. Some of the minor characters are entertaining too, like Freddie and Mrs. Odetts. Margie's antics can be obnoxious at times, she's always meddling where she shouldn't be, but then "that's my little Margie".

I haven't seen this since the days it played on the old CBN Cable Network.

I've seen it very sporadically here and there since then. Somehow it seems an awful lot of episodes were produced considering it ran just barely over 3 years.
Of all the shows from the old CBN lineup (oh! how I miss that) it was probably the most broadly played and cartoonish. It almost seemed like a throwback to the movie shorts of the 30s and 40s, it has much more the "feel" of such productions than of its contemporary TV series. It could indeed be fun, but unless you watched an episode from the beginning you'd be lost as to what was going on and why. And Margie's trademark (think Lucy's "spider face") was a throaty gurgle which was not that cute and used much too often. |

I would love to see an episode of Gale Storm's followup sitcom, The Gale Storm Show aka Oh, Susanna!

^Really?? I'll have to see if those are available! I'm really enjoying old time radio shows--having been the runs of My Favorite Husband and Father Knows Best. I'm now into The Aldrich Family.

(sponsored by Philip Morris). It also ran on the Mutual network from 1953 to 1954. I bought an episode from Radio Yesteryear, back in the 1980s. You might also try Radio Spirits. They also carry an extensive list of radio shows. |

Interesting thing is that the character of Margie was in her early 20's. When the show was on the air, Gale Storm was at least in her early 30's.

Thanks TVStar, I'll look into it. Might see if some are available at the Old Time Radio website-- my g/f got me some of my stuff through them.

If you watch the show its obvious the writers were inspired by I Love Lucy

Several shows from the 50s and 60s were said to be inspired/ripping off Lucy.
