Lets talk about "extras". Which TV series dvd sets have the best extra features (Commentaries; interviews; deleted scenes; out-takes; non-episode material; reunion shows etc.)

And which shows are disappointed in as far as lack of extras or none at all, or they include them in complete series sets.

Get Smart and Seinfeld have the best extras on the top of my head.

Any show by Sony on DVD is a disappointment and had NO EXTRAS

Biggest Special Feature Bang for the Lowest Price:

Petticoat Junction - Ultimate Collection from MPI
Yeah, it's only half of the first season but it's got episode introductions from Linda Kaye Henning, a documentary, original sponsor commercials, promos, etc.,.

I also agree that the I Love Lucy and Here's Lucy DVD sets are great!

The first release of "Hawaii Five-O" had that documentary called "Memories of Hawaii Five-O" from 1996, hosted by Emme Tomimbang and James MacArthur.
Since then, the extras have consisted of Jack Lord episode promos on selected episodes.

As for "Dallas," the best extra on its releases, I would say, has been on the #4 release-- it had the 2004 "Return to Southfork" special.

But as for lack of bonuses, my mother has all of "The Waltons" now, and only the #8 release has had a bonus feature, the retrospective "A Decade of The Waltons," presented by Earl Hamner.

I Love Lucy has so much stuff it would make your mind boggle for me to list it here. I havent watched many episodes as I am waiting for the sour taste of TVLand to leave my consciousness-same with Leave It To beaver.

Here's Lucy had commentary by Lucie, Desi Jr, Carol Burnett, Wayne Newton along with out-takes and special performances. IMO the whole DVD set is worth it just for the Ann Margaret episode and commentary on the Lucy meets The Burtons WOW!!!!

I own the complete series of The Dick Van Dyke Show. It has bonus features on every single disk. I Love Lucy and Get Smart are two other complete series I own that have lots of extras.

With each Punky Brewster set you got at least 20 episodes of the cartoon "It's Punky Brewster". Add that to cast interviews and the odd quiz, and you get great value for money.

Every season of 'The Dukes of Hazzard' had extras on them. I liked the cast reunions the best, they talked about behind-the-scenes stuff. 'The Monkees' had commentaries from all four members plus the original pilot and the 33 1/3 Revolutions Per Monkee special, not to mention episode trivia.

If DVD boxsets don't have extras, it doesn't bother me. They're nice, but not necessary, in order for me to enjoy the boxset itself.

Actually, the Official First Season Release of Petticoat Junction by Paramount was great. There were updated episode introductions from either Linda Kaye Henning and Pat Woodell (some of them featured both ladies), plus most of the extras from the MPI set, including sponsor commercials for Tide & Ivory Soap.

The first 2 season sets of Mary Tyler Moore had some good extras. They even had a documentary with Mary and Valerie Harper going on location in Minneapolis to film the opening and closing credits.

Wonderfalls has some of the best extras I've ever seen. Documentaries, interviews, and a commentary on almost every single episode! Just really cool stuff.

The new SportsNight Anniversary edition does not disappoint! Lots of great interviews, and some really cool commentaries by MANY different members of the cast and crew.

Firefly has KILLER extras, including a great blooper reel, and some Nathan Fillion practical jokes.

I was TRULY disappointed in Quark, where the only 'extras' were a couple of 'minisodes' of another show. How dumb.

I hate the Minisodes! Sony promotes them as extras, and yet they have nothing to do with the show. I've been watching the 3rd season of The Partridge Family and saw they have a minisode for Different Strokes and Charlies Angels. First of all these shows weren't on during the PF run, and secondly whats the point of a mini-sode, why not just have the whole episode if you gonna do it in the first place.
An extra to me is a feature that has some relativity to the show I'm watching. Now if it was an episode of a spin-off like Facts of Life on a Different Strokes release, that would make sense.
