I'm nearly done with disc1 of Season 3 and I thought I would post some thoughts. I really missed the music of Perry Botkin, the show is more of what I remember of the Beverly Hillbillies during the color run. I do have to say that I was really impressed with the episode called Hedda Hopper's Hollywood. There is a great arial view of the Mansion and great detail, I was in awe of the whole property. I also liked the backlot of Mammoth Pictures. I wonder if you can tour the real studio, Hollywood Center Studios. I'm going to look up info on Curt Masson to see if his music of the show is available.

If I'm not mistaken, that was the episode in which Granny called Hedda's hat a "window box" (big hat with floral decorations, like a flower planter outside a window).
There were lots of excellent episodes at the time, and the supporting characters in particular became more firmly established -- as far as their many nuances taking hold. Also, there's more emphasis on love affairs for Jed, where in later years that becomes somewhat of a rarity -- as such matters for Elly, Jethro, and even Granny take the forefront. |
