Heart Mother's Day for those mothers who have lost children

I feel really bad for the mother of my late (very good) friend, Doug. Not only is May 10th Mother's Day, he would've turned 41 on that day. One of my former classmates passed away (and was his mother's only child - he had half-sisters from his dad). They still deserve to be honored and loved!!

I'm not a parent, but I can't think of anything worse than burying one's own child. I don't know how those parents go on.

I lost one of my older brothers nine years ago. The first Mother's Day without him was hard for my mom. In the past few years she said Mother's Day isn't too hard to deal with she just cherishes his memory and her other children. One of my coworkers' sisters lost her only son last year and my coworker is thinking about talking her sister out on Mother's Day for dinner or lunch. She is really unsure about how to approach the situation.

I was just watching a show called "Prom Nightmares" and there was a family who had an older son who had died of leukemia and few years back. The story pertaining to the show had to do with the only daughter dying in a car accident on her prom night. To lose one child is bad enough, I cannot imagine losing 2 of your children.

My mom lost her second child to a suicide (when he was only 18 years old). A half brother, whom I hardly knew, since I was only 4 years old when he passed; but I remember driving to Phoenix to attend his funeral

I'm so sorry to hear that, Tara.

Yes, I'm sorry to hear about that, too.

I actually had another sister, Michele, who was born 2 years after me, but when she was 8 weeks old, she died of pneumonia. Of course, I don't remember her since I was only 2 but my mom keeps photos of her in the photo album.

I know what you mean...what you are trying to say. I don't have kids myself, so I can only imagine how horrible it must be.

I've lost 2 siblings..my older brother (it will be two years in July) and my mom miscarried a few years after I was born. I will be off this Mother's Day and i intend to make it as happy as possible, knowing that she will have some sadness.
