In 1986, Betty, Bea and Rue gave a special message against wearing animal furs. In the episode where the girls are burglarized, Dorothy is upset because her fur or mink stole is stolden. And in the opening credits of season 1, Blanche is wearing the stole. Is there a story behind this? Did animal rights groups rise up in arms, against them? Or maybe Bea and Rue felt guilty that their characters would wear animal skins? Any one know?
