Default Kidman hits out on Cruise marriage

4 hours 50 mins ago

Nicole Kidman has laid into ex-husband Tom Cruise in an interview.

The Australian actress told Easy Living magazine that during their relationship she felt it was her job to "be seen and not heard".

The couple split up in 2001 after ten years together.

And it appears that time has not healed wounds from their time together.

Nicole told Easy Living that she felt her own career was being sidelined while together with Tom.

http://uk.news.yahoo.com/21/20090502...e-5f8abb3.html

The 41-year-old said: "I felt I became a star only by association.

"We would go to the Oscars and I would think, 'I'm here to support him'. I felt it was my job to put on a beautiful dress and be seen and not heard."

While she's the much better actor...sad. She's better off now with Keith.

Though I love Eyes Wide Shut, that film took a lot of casualties. It paved the way for the split between Tom and Nicole, Also, a few days after delivering the film to Warner Brothers, the great Stanley Kubrick died.

I've always liked Tom more than Nicole. I think she's a good actress but I've just never really liked her. The only movies I like with Nicole are the before mentioned Eyes Wide Shut and Days Of Thunder. Though when Nicole was married to Tom, it always did seem like it was about him and that he stifled her creativity.

so true. looking back on those photos of tom and nicole together at the oscars, you could tell in some of them that she wasn't happy being mrs tom cruise. not to mention her career hadn't gone so well for her. but since their divorce, nicole has been getting loads of film roles, whilst tom is well a hollywood has-been. what a reversal of fortune this was, eh?

I've always liked Nicole WAY better than Tom...and she's WAY better off without him.

What are you talking about? Some of Kidman's recent roles were not that great; Australia, Bewitched, The Stepford Wives, The Invasion,

Cruise had Tropic Thunder, Mission Impossible III, The Last Samurai, War of the Worlds, Collateral... I wouldn't call Cruise a has-been just yet.

The above movies were all 2001 and onward.

Bewitched was just a mistake, pure and simple. Love the show, hated the movie. The Others was one of the great underrated films of 2001, and Nicole was great in it.

I loved The Others and the reason why I didn't mention it above was because Tom Cruise was one of the producers of it. Kidman and Cruise didn't go solo yet.

He co-produced it? Wow, you learn something new every day. Nicole was the one who remade "Something Stupid" with Robbie Williams, right?

Yes he did. If you want to see go here and look at "Produced By" and you will see Tom Cruise there. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0230600/fullcredits#cast

Yes, and their music video is here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DVS_qzjCiSI

I think they sepparated during the filming, or very shortly after. They were already split by the time the film came out (if memory serves me correctly). I remember going to see the film and noticing his name in the credits and being a bit surprised. Loved that movie! I think it's Nicole's best.

I think Tom was on top of the world during his marriage to Nicole - he had everything from Far and Away to Jerry Maguire. He's still got a great career, but I think he was better before. Nicole on the other hand, has completely blossomed. She was Mrs. Tom Cruise for so long and it did seem to hold her back. Her comments don't surprise me. She seems so much more happy, free, and her own person - post Tom.

Yes, I'm not sure when exactly but they did break it off around the time of The Others. Still, Cruise had his hand in the movie's pocket so he banked on its profits.

I like the both of them. They both had hits and misses in their careers since 2001. Kidman's recent flick Australia didn't do that well but neither did Cruise's recent flick Valkyrie.

I wouldn't call either of them has-beens.

You're right, Nicole's career has soared since her divorce. I think Tom was controlling, plus her kids are older now, except, of course, for her newborn. She may slow down now, who knows. I think she's a terrific actress.
