Default World Champion Phillies & Muts Set To Renew Rivalry

Us and them meet for the first time this season, and the first time since we became 2008 World Champions of Baseball, and since the Mets CHOKED again- 2 years in a row while we cruised to the playoffs . I can't wait to bash the f*cking Muts faces in this weekend, @ Philly.

And we don't face Santana this weekend AT ALL either- thank god for that.

Mets at Phillies- Friday 7:05 pm- Mike Pelfrey @ Chan Ho Park
Saturday 3:40pm on FOX- Odalis Perez vs. Jamie Moyer
Sunday at 1:05 pm- John Maine vs. Joe Blanton

Go Phils F&ck the Mets

There is no rivalry when one team is better than the other. And that mets win last night didn' mean sh*T. They are still a joke of a franchise and are no pathetic to have a rival. This is just two teams in the same division squaring off against each other.

Phillies fans have no reason to hate the Mets when their team has been the best in the NL east for the last 2 years and won a title. The hate should be the other way around

Yeah but still-it's a rivalry and that's how it is in sports, standings aside. Yankees-Red Sox, Angels-Dodgers (although that's less prominent cause the 2 teams are in 2 different leagues in the Majors) & Phils-Muts. Philly is closer to NY then a lot of states and cities, so the closeness builds a rivalry, like it does with the Flyers-Rangers & Eagles-Giants respective rivalries as well in the other sports. You're right- we kicked their a$$es and won the championship as well the last 2 years against them, but it's fun to curse out the Mets and hate the Mets & Mets fans lol. It's like you hate Philly teams- I hate New York teams, but only in baseball & football- I don't really hate or hate at all for that matter, the Rangers or Islanders, or Knicks of NY as much or at all compared to the Giants or Muts.

I always thought a rivalry meant that it was two teams who took turns in beating each other and winning titles like Boston/Yankess, Celtics/Lakers, and Colts/Pats.

That is true, but teams don't have to win championships for it to be a true or legit rivalry I don't think. I think as long as both teams are great and beat each other each year, and it's not one sided, and the emotions and fans are in it, then it'll be a real good rivalry. like in hockey, the boston bruins and montreal canadiens have a real good hockey rivalry, but the last championship from either of the 2 teams hasn't happened since 1992-1993; 16 years ago, and it still is a good rivalry and fun hockey to watch. I know you don't watch hockey, I was just making an example though; that, that can happen.

I think it is a thing called New York envy.

Solomon, I loved that Sacramento team from the 2000 era, and that 2000-2001 Conf. Finals series with the Lakers was fantastic, but the Tim Donahey situation dampered it in my mind. I think Sac. deserved to win the series, but LA was a great team & the better one obviously that year.

I didn't watch the 4th qtr of Game 7 of the WCF in 2002 between the Lakers and Kings because I wanted the Lakers to win and thought they had no chance in Sacramento once they got down by 9-lol I caught the 4th Qtr the following day on NBATV

Yeah, that's why I think Sacramento got cheated, and in their own place. Tim Donaghey gave it to the lakers unfairly in my mind.
