NBC greenlights gambling gameshow
NBC is gambling that viewers are hungry for more poker. Variety reports that the network has ordered seven episodes of Face the Ace, a Las Vegas gameshow in which ordinary contestants compete in poker tournaments against professional card-sharks. If the contestant wins, they can opt to keep the winnings, or risk those winnings against another pro for a bigger pot— of up to $1 million. But if they lose, the contestant walks away emptyhanded.
Hosted by Steve Schirripa (The Sopranos), Ace will debut Aug. 1 at 9 p.m., but will eventually move to Saturday afternoons beginning in September. http://news-briefs.ew.com/index_page2.html |
