Haim Saban, one of the founders of Saban Entertainment and creator of kids shows such as the Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers, has become one of the principal players in a Congressional scandal involving such high-profile names as U.S. Rep. Jane Harman, former Attorney General Alberto Gonzales and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi.

The New York Times reported that an unidentified lobbyist was overheard using Saban's name in a phone call with Rep. Harman as an incentive to abuse her influence on intelligence and justice matters. The story was based on revelations from Congressional Quarterly that Harman was being monitored by the National Security Agency (motto: I'm listening).

The lobbyist wanted Harman, the then-ranking Democrat on the House Intelligence Committee with hopes of becoming the committee's chairwoman, to intervene with the Justice Department on behalf of two American Israel Public Affairs Committee members accused of espionage. Analysts Steven Rosen and Keith Weismann stood accused of sharing "information about Iran and Iraq they had learned from talking to high-level United States policy makers" with journalists and Israeli Embassy officials.

The lobbyist then used Saban's political contributions as leverage to get Harman to cooperate. They said Saban, an Israeli-American and one of the biggest financial supporters of several pro-Israel movements and politicians, would pull his campaign contribution from Pelosi's re-election campaign if Pelosi failed to appoint her to the Intelligence chair.

The stars and people behind this show are going downhill...a guy that was on the show just murdered people, now this....sucks to be Saban.
