Thumbs up What sitcom movie?

Hi! What sitcom do you think would be the most likely cantidate to make a movie after? If it's an old sitcom do you think they should not because they would have to change the cast? What sitcom do you think would make the best movie (that hasn't already)? post what you think! Can you name some of the sitcoms that have already made movies?

see ya~The T.

I don't think that many sit-coms are good ideas for theatrical movies, because the concepts are usually smaller than life, whereas the movies should be larger than life. Therefore, the concept has to be accepting to this larger-than-life aspect of the movie screen, or you'll end up with another "Car 54, Where Are You?"

Case in point, the Adams Family. There was a concept that was huge in scope, and the characters had layers of depth that really came out in the movies. IMHO, that was the only sit-com concept that successfully translated directly to the big screen. I liked the Brady Movie as well, but in a completely different way. It was like how Mad Magazine used to be, poking fun at itself the whole time... it was saying "You're right... this IS a silly concept! Let's play with it".

Because of the Brady Movie, no other sit-com movie will ever be able to pull that off. It was cute the one time, but the dismal boxoffice performance of the sequal proves that it was a one-trick pony.

This post is getting long... I'll post my choices for sit come movies in a few minutes.

I think that Gilligan's Island would make an excellent movie, but not as a comedy. If they took the characters and the situations and portrayed them in a realistic light, then I think that the film would be incredible!

I would love to say THE FACTS OF LIFE, but I don't think it would make a great movie. But, it sure is one great show! There just aren't many sitcoms that could successfully, key word successfully, make a good theatrical movie. The only one I can think of might be WELCOME BACK, KOTTER. Maybe F-TROOP.

Even though I am probably the only one on these board that ever even saw the show...I think Space Cases would have made a good movie, mainly for the reason that the story was never finished. They would probably have to use other actors though, and that would ruin it for me.

I've SEEN Space Cases. I just thought it was... stupid. And I DID give it a chance. I never eally liked daytime Nickelodeon, but this show was on the year I could most tolerate it. It was boring. But, then again, if a show is less than 20 years old (when it premeired, not ended), I'm really not that interested.

If it was possible (and I don't think it is)I would like to see All in the Family as a movie, but not necessarily a comedy. However, I can't imagine having any cast other than the original, and the script and directing would have to be EXCELLENT, so I don't think there's much chance of it ever happening without being a miserable failure.

Welcome Back Kotter might make a cool movie, though, especially since movies about the 70s are really popular right now. They could add a great 70s soundtrack and make it a cross between "Dazed and Confused" and "Amercian Pie"!

Question

Correct me if I am wrong , but wasn't Perfect Strangers supposed to be made into a movie sometime around 1990?

Some of the sitcoms I have thought of that were made into a movie are: Brady Bunch, Dennis the Menace, Addams Family, Beverly Hillbillies, McHale's Navy, Leave it to Beaver and Car 54,Where are You ?

Don't forget the movie they did awhile back of "My Favorite Martian"- I have heard some awful things about this movie so I have never seen it, but I am a fan of the tv show.
