Question Fanciest/Priciest restaurants you've been to?

Every year, for our wedding anniversary, my husband and I would go to the Bay Tower Room in Boston. We haven't done that in a couple of years, for various reasons. The place has a lot of sentimental value to us. It's about 60 flights up, made of all glass and overlooks Boston Harbor. They have excellent tableside service.

I can't recall the name of the restaurant, but it's inside the Ritz-Carlton. Way back, a girlfriend of mine was dating a rich guy who took the four of us there a couple of times. The guy turned out to be a loon, but he sure knew his restaurants, lol.

We celebrated my 40th birthday at Mortons of Chicago. Everything is à la carte. They charge you for an extra pat of butter, lol.

Another great find was The Andover Inn. It has all dark wood, book cases, long drapes, a single rose and a candle on every table. A beautiful grand piano is in the corner of the room, with a pianist playing it. The restaurant has a very "old money" feel to it. As the name suggests, it's also an Inn. It's located on the campus of Phillips Academy, a prep school for the
privileged.

There are a few other places down Cape Cod. So, those are a few of the restaurants we've gone through the years. Get all dressed up and feel rich for the evening, then it's back to Chinese take-out the next day, lol.

i've never really paid attention to prices (it's always someone else ordering for me in sit-down restaurants), but i went to an authentic european restaurant with relatives in washington DC last month and couldn't help but notice that everything on the menu was about $30. it was a nice place though. it aimed at creating a medieval europe feel to it, so instead of having music playing on a CD player or radio, there was a lady playing piano and singing. everything on the menu was in german too. unless you knew how to pronounce it, you pretty much had to point to it to show the waiter what you want.

The fanciest eating joint I have ever been to is the Red Lobster. You can tell I dont regulary dine in five star places.

The Citronelle in Santa Barbara, it was by the beach with a nearly panoramic view. The prices were quite up there, but it was worth the price.

Citrus on Social in Hollywood, it looks really nice and has really good food, but is quite affordable.

I went out with a group of co-worker to see Josh Groban and the restaurant we went to was pretty pricey, the least expensive entree was about $20 and it didn't even come with anything. If you wanted a salad with your meal you had to pay $9 extra. I'm proud to say my parents raised me cheap. I would much rather go to Branns a local steakhouse chain. You can get an 8oz steak with a salad and potato for $10 plus rolls with their awesome honey cinnamon butter. They also have a great frozen Peach Margarita.

I don't often eat in fancy restaurants, but a few years ago on a trip back east, we ate at Ruth's Kriss steak house in New York City. The steak was good, but I think we were paying more for the atmosphere and the name reputation of the place.

Any kind of steakhouse - which is why I don't go to that kind of place too often.

Once my boss took the entire office to Weber Grill in downtown Chicago for lunch. Trust me - these are NOT cheap eats by any stretch of the imagination - the meals start at $25.00 and go up. But, you get what you pay for - the food there is some of the best I've ever had in my life!

I don't really eat out at fancy restaurants. I went to one place about 10 years ago and it was very pricey. The price started at about $30 and up. The food was just awful and I never went back. Even the salad was bad. lol I usually just go to places that I've frequented before. At least if the food is bad it doesn't cost me an arm and a leg. lol

You mean two arms and two legs. Many fancy places are notorious for small portions of weird food. The few places I listed are tried and true, but I've been to a couple of places before with outrageous prices and lousy food.

Aldo's in Campbell/San Jose very nice atmosphere they're an Italian restaurant. They're expensive and serve the fancy deserts.

Another place I've been to for a Bachelor party dinner is Scott's in Downtown San Jose. The cheapest thing on the menu I ordered was $19 for fish, lol. We had to split the bill to cover the guest of honor.

I ate at Madeo's in West Hollywood when I was in Calif. over the holidays. Average price for an entree is about $25. It was a one time thing anyway. When I was younger, I used to think Outback was expensive!! Not so much anymore.

The first year that I was married we lived in Chicago and for our first anniversary we ate at this place called Everest, Great place to go eat if you ever go to Chicago.

In Dallas it would have to be Abacus, also another great place to go and have a romantic dinner.
