Movie The Confirmed Cast For "Nightmare On Elm Street" *Connie Britton Joins Cast*

The Last of the Elm Street Kids is Cast!
Friday, April 24, 2009
By: MrDisgusting

The Hollywood Reporter confirms tonight that both Rooney Mara (reported exclusively on B-D yesterday) and Thomas Dekker (From Within, Laid to Rest, "The Sarah Connor Chronicles") will be starring in New Line's re-imagined A Nightmare on Elm Street, being directed by Samuel Bayer and produced by Platinum Dunes.

They also break the news that Twilight star Kellan Lutz will join the quickly growing cast as "Dean", the popular school jock. Read on for more and watch for Elm Street in theaters April 16, 2010.

Dekker will play "Jesse", the alpha male trying to get back together with his girlfriend. Mara plays Nancy Thompson, the girl who can't wait to leave town after graduation.

Those young dreams will prove to be dust as the duo join Kyle Gallner (Quentin), in the role played by Johnny Depp in the 1984 pic, as fodder for slasher Freddy Krueger, being played by Jackie Earle Haley.

"Nightmare" is slated to begin shooting May 5 in Chicago.

Lutz played Emmett Cullen in "Twilight," a role he is reprising for the sequel, "New Moon," which is shooting in Vancouver. His part in "Nightmare" would not be scheduled until later in the shoot. The actor, repped by Innovative, also appeared in "90210" and "Generation Kill."

Dekker, repped by ICM and the Schiff Co., is coming off starring on Fox's "Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles." He next appears on the big screen in New Line's "My Sister's Keeper" with Cameron Diaz and Abigail Breslin.

Gersh-repped Mara, the sister of Kate Mara, has "The Winning Season" with Sam Rockwell and "Youth in Revolt" with Michael Cera coming out this year.

I think some of the casting choices are good. I haven't seen anything Rooney Mara is in but I have good feelings about her because her sister Kate is a great actress.

EXCL: Cassidy Meets Krueger in Nightmare on Elm Street
Source:Ryan Rotten, Managing Editor
April 30, 2009

Freddy Krueger will have his hands full in the new A Nightmare on Elm Street, especially with the latest member to join the cast.

Actress Katie Cassidy has taken the role of "Kris" in the Samuel Bayer-directed reboot of Wes Craven's '84 slasher film. She's the second female lead to sign aboard after Rooney Mara. Kyle Gallner, Thomas Dekker and Jackie Earle Haley as Freddy Krueger also star.

Cassidy is no stranger to Supernatural fans. She had a good run on the CW horror series as the demon Ruby. Prior to that stint she played the final girl in the Black Christmas remake and was recently seen kidnapped in the Liam Neeson-starring hit Taken. Television viewers can also find her on Harper's Island.

A Nightmare on Elm Street begins rolling next month in the Chicago area and hits theaters on April 16, 2010.

I liked Katie in Supernatural. I didn't like her in the Black Christmas remake.

Katie seems to be making a career out of remakes.

I didn't like the Black Christmas remake period. It was one of the worst remakes I've seen; appallingly bad.

Clancy Brown Picks Up No-Doz For Elm Street Role
Saturday, May 2, 2009
By: MrDisgusting

Bloody-Disgusting learned exclusively this afternoon that the great Clancy Brown has been cast as "Allan" in New Line Cinema's reboot of A Nightmare on Elm Street.

He joins the previously announced Jackie Earle Haley, Kyle Gallner, Thomas Dekker, Rooney Mara, Kellan Lutz and Katie Cassidy in the film being helmed by commercial director Samuel Bayer.

Brown can be seen in J.T. Petty's The Burrowers, which hit DVD just a few weeks ago, along with Starship Troopers, Pet Sematary II and Highlander.

The films' premise centered on Krueger, a serial child molester murdered by angry parents, who returns with a burnt face and a razor glove to terrorize teens in their dreams. Shooting begins in Chicago next week, with a release planned for April 16, 2010.

There's a New Resident on Elm Street
Source:Variety
May 21, 2009

Actress Connie Britton is the latest cast member to sign up for A Nightmare on Elm Street. She recently shared screen time with Ron Perlman in The Last Winter, directed by Larry Fessenden. You've also seen her on 24, Friday Night Lights and The West Wing.

Now, since Nightmare was first announced there have been some rumblings that Robert Englund might have room in the film for a cameo. Sources tell us he will not pop up in the film.

A Nightmare on Elm Street is now rolling in Chicago with director Samuel Bayer at the helm. Jackie Earle Haley, Rooney Mara, Kyle Gallner, Thomas Dekker and Katie Cassidy star.

I think Clancy and Connie will be great additions to the cast.

Yep, they will be.

I could see Connie being Nancy's alcoholic mother and Clancy Brown taking over John Saxon's role of Lt. Thompson.

- I looked into it a few mins. ago, Connie will be playing Nancy's (Rooney Mara) mother. I don't know who "Allan" is for Clancy Brown but news will come in at some point.
