Simpson Sends A Car For Jailed Garrison
23 April 2009 2:55 PM, PDT Actor Lane Garrison will be released from prison next week and Jessica Simpson will be there to greet him. The Prison Break star has signed his early-release papers after getting paroled for good behaviour - and childhood pal Simpson has reportedly arranged for his pick-up at the Richard J. Donovan Correctional Facility in San Diego, California. According to In Touch magazine, the singer/actress hasn't visited Garrison since he was sentenced to serve 40 months behind bars due to security risks, but sources insist she has been in contact with her old friend. The actor was locked up for a December 2006 drink driving incident, which resulted in the death of a 17-year-old passenger. Garrison pleaded guilty to charges of vehicular manslaughter and driving under the influence of alcohol after the 2006 smash in California which killed Vahagn Setian and left two 15-year-old girls seriously injured. The actor was ferrying the teenagers home after a Hollywood party when he lost control of his vehicle. Garrison recently settled a civil suit with Setian's parents and crash survivor Michelle Ohana, who spent two months in a wheelchair following the accident. Officials at the California Department of Corrections have confirmed Garrison is to be released after earning good behaviour credits. -IMDB News |

Garrison Released From Jail, Heading To Rehab
29 April 2009 9:05 AM, PDT Troubled actor Lane Garrison is a free man - he was released from a California prison early on Wednesday. The former Prison Break star was locked up in November 2007 for a drink driving incident in December 2006, which left a 17-year-old passenger dead. He was due to serve 40 months behind bars on charges of vehicular manslaughter and driving under the influence after alcohol and traces of cocaine were found in his system, but he won an early release for good behaviour. Garrison was met by friends and family as he left California Correctional Institute in rural Tehachapi in the early hours of Wednesday. A source tells Eonline.com, "He's done his time and now he's looking forward to trying to move on with his life." According to the website, Garrison will now enroll in a rehabilitation facility to help kick his drug habit and shorten his probation period. California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation spokesperson Terry Thornton reveals the rehab stint will be a continuation of the treatment he has been receiving in prison. The rep says, "He was sentenced to three years and four months, but inmates, including Mr. Garrison can earn credits that reduce the time that they spend in prison. "He received half time - meaning that for every day that he participated in a rehabilitative programme, he got a day off his sentence." Garrison recently settled a civil suit with the family of his victim Vahagn Setian. The details of the deal have not been disclosed to the public. -IMDB News |
