In one episode Niles says that Maris isn't a handholder as she has slight webbing between her fingers; odd that she never had that removed as she was not only from a posh family and seeemingly would have had that done as a child, as an adult she had everything else tucked and such !!!

Actually, I can speak first hand here on this issue (so to speak). ; )

I have webbed toes. The second and third toes are joined together. This ran in males on my father's side of the family, yet I was the first and only so far, female to have the webbing.

As a baby, my mother checked into having my toes separated. Apparently it would be very tricky to do because of the number of blood vessels, etc. involved. The doctor warned against it, siting that it doesn't bother me or restrict me with anything (other than maybe toe socks) so why bother.

So even though the surgery would have been free here, it wasn't done because they felt the risks outweighed the outcome.

I'm actually very proud of my toes and love that they're joined. It gives me a "conversation starter". hehe!!
