Default If You Lived Next To A Murderer...What Would You Do?

This is a controversial topic, but this came in during a question somebody asked a musician...Anyways, say you moved to a new home and somehow (however you want to think it) you find out you live next to a murderer...a repeated murderer for the sake of it, i.e. charles manson, Richard Kuklinsky etc. types. What would you do? It seems the obvious answer would be to move away as quick & fast as possible, but that could backfire tremendously. Would you hide? What do you think???

I'd probably leave all of my belongings, except for important valuables and things to survive, and would sneak away to a cousin or friends house thats not nearby, until they either left, got caught and arrested by the police or when I knew my family and I were safe.

I'd call the police, and let them arrest him. Let the murderer be the one to leave.

Yeah but what if their acquitted or arrange for a friend to move onto your block if they find out you're the one that called the police? The mafia is mostly the ones to do that. They say if you get rid of one, theirs always 20 more somewhere.

I'm not saying it's a bad thing, but most people don't think these crazy murderers etc. don't have a backup plan or can't do anything once the lse enforcement takes off, but some of the craziest **** has happened before so you never know.

Yeah, but what if he got pissed and ran next door to my house!
I'd get in my car, and go to the nearest hotel first... or any public building for that matter... and call the cops on my cell phone from there... and wait till they got him.

Yeah Mattie, that's how you gotta think, and can't panic. The problem with a lot of people is, when they're faced with a decision if somebodys coming at them or their lives are in danger if somebody dangerous lives next door/nearby, they don't look at every perspective or POV. I think most people, including Janice and you would be smart about it, but putting yourself in the least amount of danger involves a few different plans and someway or another, putting yourself in their shoes, as in "what would they do", or "what would they do if I did this"? its scary as hell though.

I misunderstood because you gave Manson and the the Unibomber as examples, and they're behind bars. Not sure what I'd do.

it's ok, I should of been more clearer- my bad. you gave a smart answer though. I was just validating my initial post in here. actually, richard kuklinski was the "ice man." he killed over 200 people and was so smart in the law not catching him, because he would freeze the bodies of the people he killed, then would preserve them, then release the bodies weeks after the incident, so coroners were mixed up and had no clue how the person had died. its twisted as hell but having to face living next to a crazy guu like that, I wouldn't want it whatsoever and would be frightened, but would prepare a way out of it, without getting killed maybe.

I'd try and get to know the guy as detailed as possible without pissing him off. Being female, I'd also be careful what I wore around the guy. Full, loose clothing works in the event I will need to run - plus it might give him that "undesirable" look if you know what I'm saying..

I would do my best not to get too close to them and I would install security systems in home and I would keep a gun with me.

If it were a "mafia" guy, then he would probably be a great neighbour. He could care less about you - unless you touch one of his kids or his wife.

And someone like Manson wouldn't own a home or live like that in the first place.

The closest I got was when a wife murdered her husband 4 floors above me in a condo I used to live in. It was in a unit directly above ours. Needless to say, the cops took care of it.

I would find out all the facts about the murderer, and if this guy was possibly still dangerous, I'd plan a way to take him out.

Kill or be killed.

As long as I have my 9mm I feel safe. Just try and break in and you will 'say hello to my little friend'.

And what if he were to sneak in when you weren't there and find your gun and then wait for you to arrive home.

first i would try to learn about them and the murders they committed. if they clearly killed out of malice or just psychosis (ie. they had a delusion that one of their victims was threatening their life), then most likely i would install all the home security components i could afford and keep pepper spray and a gun or two around. valuables would definitely be locked up and hidden away. i'd keep a cell phone on me at all times in case they're one of the ones who disconnects landline phones before attacking. if i ever saw them around outside, i wouldn't fall for any friendliness they may show towards me because i know how sociopaths work. but if i wasn't too fond of the place i was in and could afford moving, i'd just do that.

if it were someone who only killed out of rage and moral justice (like the lady in the news a few months ago who burned her daughter's rapist to death), i'd keep some distance because i couldn't be sure of exactly where they drew the line between what justifies murder and what doesn't, but i'd still be kind of interested in them. i'd probably put some effort into protecting myself too, but i think i'd at least be able to sleep at night.

Well first of all he would have to find it then if he found it he would have to get the lock off. Then he would have to worry about my terrier biting his ass and if he still succeeds he would get pepper sprayed.
