JESSICA SIMPSON is trying to persuade BRITNEY SPEARS to join her for a new TV sitcom, according to U.S. reports. The Dukes of Hazzard star has approached Spears with the idea of teaming up for a buddy comedy, like beloved series Laverne & Shirley, reports the Globe. Both singers have toyed with comedy roles - Simpson starred in the films Major Movie Star, Blonde Ambition and Employee of the Month, and Spears won over TV critics when she played a ditzy secretary in U.S. sitcom How I Met Your Mother last year (08). A source says, "Britney seems genuinely interested in working with her. She's said they'll talk further when she finishes her Circus tour. "And Jessica wants to prove to the world that she's a talented, funny actress, not just some silly airhead." |

I'm all for re-inventing the sitcom, but not with these two. They aren't good enough to tie Penny Marshall and Cindy Williams' shoes!!
