Hello everybody.
I'm sure you all remember me from 12 Hours, not so long ago. I know what I said recently in my 12 Hours thread, and yes I am going through some stuff and I am making plans to move and all, but fortunately I was able to get started on the 12 Hours sequel I've been promising all of you, The Fifth Floor. I haven't completed the first chapter yet. I'm sorry. I do believe I'll be able to post it sometime tomorrow, but I wanted to go ahead and give you guys a synopsis, a trailer, a teaser, whatever you want to call it. Now that the truth of the most secret, painful aspects of Blair Warner's childhood have been revealed, not only to her Eastland family but to the entire world, she must find a way to cope and move on with her life. While the remaining journey across the bridge from abusive despair to hope is a difficult one, she and her hero, the new adoptive mother of her heart, Mrs. Garrett, start making that journey together. Meanwhile, Blair's closest friends, Jo Polniaczeck, Natalie Green, and Tootie Ramsey, who are just like sisters to her, must make painful personal journeys of their own with the help of their families. Tootie's parents see a new side of their daughter as they watch her struggle to learn to cope with life being paralyzed. They learn much from Tootie in terms of courage, and in turn Tootie realizes just how little she's been involved in her family's life...and vice versa. What will this realization between Tootie and her parents mean for them and for her Eastland family? When Blair's struggles with her past gave Natalie the courage to admit to Jo and to her boyfriend Ben that she learned from her visit with her birth mother that she could be carrying the gene for Huntington's chorea, she opened up a whole new can of worms she never expected. Taking their advice, Natalie finally opened up to her parents, and that starts the Greens on a long, difficult road together. Natalie learns things about her parents and her parents' marriage she could never have imagined, and Dr. and Mrs. Green know that they must reach a decision about their relationship and start dealing with it so that they can start truly being there for Natalie as parents, and help her through the toughest decision about her life that a teenager can make. While the other girls are working through their own issues with their families and Blair is receiving plenty of TLC from Edna, Jo does worry greatly about all of them. But in her special relationship with Alex, Mrs. Garrett's son, Jo learns to let go and let God...in terms of the other girls and in terms of her own worries with her less-than-perfect relationship with her mother. And as far as her secret engagement to Alex goes, nothing can be kept a secret forever. When Alex's older brother Raymond, as well as Blair, Natalie, and Tootie eventually do find out, they are clearly shocked -- especially Raymond. The girls are quite supportive, but Raymond isn't at first. In the end his heart warms up to the young couple...but what can be said of Mrs. Garrett's heart when she finds out that her son is engaged to be married to a teenager...and that that teenager is her very own Jo?! Amazingly, all of these heavy things are actually interrupted and temporarily cast aside when lightning does strike again in two ways. Blair learns disturbing details about what her uncle is doing now that he's been in hiding ever since the police bust...but what she also learns about her health is even more disturbing. Blair turns one last time to her teenage friends and fellow survivors at St. Mary's, who are known as The Rangers, for help. With the help of the Rangers and Blair's connections with criminology experts in very high places in the government, Blair, a long-time veteran of the war in child abuse, returns to the war front one final time. Blair doubts she can do anything to save herself...but can she still save the lives of the people she loves the most, even though she is clearly running out of time? |

Just a small question, am I gonna be proving that I am the "Queen of Kleenex" as much in this story as I did in the last? |

You're off to a wonderful start. I love the line about Blair, "there are few souls in the world who were any smarter or deeper than she was". That is the way I've always thought of Blair.

Aaaawwww...that was a beautiful recap of 12 Hours! I love how Mrs. G was so surprised and happy to have Blair home and how she already is being so loving and motherly to her, forcing her to eat and rest. Sweet!
Now you know I cannot wait for the next part. I have to see where you are headed with this! Post soon...please.

I appreciate what you said, and I'm glad you enjoyed the first chapter. I'm about to post the second chapter now, although it is probably the SHORTEST chapter I've written since I started this whole thing! It isn't much, but I'm going to go ahead and post it because I'm at the library and the library's closed tomorrow and everything, so I won't be able to post anything else for the rest of the weekend. But, maybe, just MAYBE this'll hold ya!

That was an amazing chapter. It was beautiful to see Blair and Mrs. Garrett talking together so openly about everything. I am so glad to see that Blair can look at herself now and recognize that she is not a bad person. And I am glad that she has someone to look after her and make sure she is loved and cared for. It's too bad her birth parents never appreciated what they had in her, but thank goodness she found Mrs. Garrett to give her the love she deserves. Wonderful job...more soon I hope???

This story really shows a side of the relationship between Blair and Mrs. Garrett that I've always believed existed, but that the writers never really had time to show on a half hour sitcom. I've always felt that Mrs. G was more of a parent to Blair than either Monica or David were. After all, several episodes showed that Mr. Warner wasn't that great a father.

Sorry it took my a while to catch up. Been busy lately, anyway EXCELLENT start to the story I love it!!! I agree with Mike, you're exploring a relationship between Blair and Mrs. Garrett that I too always believed was there. Monica and David were not the best parents and I feel Mrs. Garrett made up for that.

That was awesome! I loved how you allowed Edna and Jo to step into Blair's private world so they could see the real truth about all she had dealt with in her young life. I think Edna's reaction to it all was very realistic as well. Excellent!
