Today marks the 31st anniversary of the double homicide on a spoilbank near Honeymoon Island off the coast of Clearwater, Florida. Their best friend, Glen Consagra, pleaded guilty to the murders to avoid the death penalty. He later went on Unsolved Mysteries and proclaimed his innocence in what became the first ever "Final Appeal" segment of the series. The segment was narrated by Karl Malden before Robert Stack was even the regular host. Unfortunately, Consagra never did receive an official exoneration. He was paroled a few years after the special aired and died a few years after that. This fascinating case has been a hot topic of debate for some time on this forum. Here are some of the more popular threads (including some that members of his family have posted in)...

In any event, hopefully we'll have better answers some day. |

Thanks for the thread links, justin. The Glen Consagra case is infinitely interesting. Since seeing for the first time three or four years back, I still am completely undecided on it.
