On easter I went to my dad and stepmoms and my stepsister was there with her 2 boys. They are both under 10. Anyway, my stepmom and stepsister were in the kitchen and me, my sister and her husband were in the living room watching a red sox game.
The kids were being rowdy and most boys are but it soon turned from rowdy to raunchy. Both boys kept talking about sex and despite trying to get them off the subject and warnings from the adults they continued. To put it as nicely as possible they were talking about oral activity, and the younger one talked about being in bed w/ 3 guys and then both were simulating humping on anything they could do it on. Is it normal for kids to start thinking about sex at this age? When I was a kid, which wasn't that long ago, i don't remember having feelings like that, not until atleast 6th grade when i started having crushes (but even then it was about thinking someone was cute and not sexual thoughts.) I'm thinking maybe they came across something on the internet.... |

They had to have come across something. If they were actually emulating it, they definitely found something somewhere. It was probably a clip or something. Sex wasn't something that was brought up until age 12-13 back in my day and I'm only going back 8-9 years. Porn is too easily accessible.

yeah, i think you're right. the phrases they were using, which i can't repeat, sounded like phrases you'd hear in a porno movie.

Well, I was 10 almost 14 years ago...
I knew about sex then. This was at a time when the internet was finally taking off so although my school had internet access by then, it wasn't something I was interested in looking up online. My school had this sex ed book targeted towards preteens, and it got passed around a lot that school year. A friend and I were in third grade in 1993 when we found that very book in the library... we passed it back & forth but that was the extent of our sex ed that year. Ditto for the next school year. 95-96 (the year I was in fifth grade) was the year everybody else my age finally located that book in the library. We'd stand around, huddled in a group at recess, talking about sex. Mainly it was just making obscene gestures and going "OMG! YOU SAID THAT!" or boasting that we were going to do x when we were old enough to do so, and then following up with a "OMG! NO WAY!" chorus from the other people in our circle. We didn't do anything outside of that, though. We had no idea what we were talking about, now that I think of it. Fortunately, everybody in our circle had a sex ed class the next year.

When I was 14, a girlfriend ended up showing me a very explicit book she'd gotten from another friend - of people engaged in many different sexual positions. Real people, not drawings or anything. It's one thing to have had "the talk" and such, but to see that absolutely freaked me out. This was WAY before the Internet had caught on!!
Lord knows how much worse it's gotten now.

we had what was called health class i think in 4th grade but it was more about puberty and changes to our body than a sex discussion. and the gym teacher separated the boys and girls and the woman gym teacher showed us feminine products and gave us samples
but i don't think the school gave us a sex talk until we were freshman where the nurse said we could go to her office if needs be and ask for a prophylactic. prior to that though the only sex i knew about was on my moms soap operas well the most you'd see was them "after" the fact, from the bare shoulders up cuddling under a blanket. |

I wouldn't get too upset (other than the oral sex talk - how do kids know so much about all that these days? I had never even heard of it until I was about 13 and thought it was gross)! lol
But I know from both my brothers (both older) than boys can start having wet dreams and sexual thoughts as young as 5 or 6 (same with girls). Boys quite often will "dry hump" their mattress at night and during dreams. As long as it stays that way, I see nothing to worry about. As their parent though, I would want to ask a few questions about the oral sex and make sure they know that it should be kept for "adults". Boy, all I can say is that am I ever glad I never had kids! It's bad enough getting a dirty look from my dog when he humps his bed.

That is disturbing. Kids are growing up way too fast these days. Even 2nd graders talk about crushes and going on dates.

Geez...I didn't like boys until I was in 7th grade! And then, like Kimberlee said, it was all just "so and so is soooooo cute!" |

I'm sure it was probably from something they found on the Internet. They probably have no actual idea what it is. Hope it's just a phase, for your sake - and for theirs.
Anyway, when I was about 11 or 12 (early 1970's), I knew of at least two boys around that same age group who were already "making it" with some of the "older" girls (probably 12 or 13). They seemed to hide it well, too - as in they had some really good hiding spots to do their little bit. |
