Ha! I was going to post this link here myself this morning. I got the email late last night. The video was up for only 48 hours and has been hit way more times than any other singer's clips.
Susan Boyle is AMAZING. And actually, it fries me that people laughed at her when she first came out. NEVER judge a book by it's cover. There's beauty in EVERYONE. Just because it might not be on the top surface doesn't mean she isn't a beautiful person. I'm glad she showed the judges and everyone else!! You GO Susan! I hope you win the show - you're flawless!! |

Boyle's Got Talent
by Mike Krumboltz April 13, 2009 12:53:39 PM 204 Votes "American Idol" isn't the only launching pad for aspiring singers. Across the pond, "Britain's Got Talent" scored a huge boost in the Buzz after an unassuming contestant gave an amazing performance. Susan Boyle (remember that name) became a Web phenomenon after singing "I Dreamed a Dream" from Les Miserables. The performance brought the audience to its feet and left the judges (including Simon Cowell) either speechless or in tears. Before going on stage, Ms. Boyle admitted some self-deprecating facts about herself (she's never been kissed and lives alone with her cat, Pebbles). For those reasons and more, audiences were expecting the female William Hung. They were wrong. Lookups on the sudden star posted huge gains. A no-name just the other day, Ms. Boyle quickly surged into our top 5,000 overall searches. Blogs and gossip rags went wild. The Mirror jumped on the story, reporting that while Ms. Boyle thought she "looked like a garage" on TV, she received a standing ovation when she showed up at her local church. Other sources write that as a child, Ms. Boyle was the target of bullies because of a disability. But, with her newfound fame, she is getting the last laugh. In fact, she's already meeting with officials from Mr. Cowell's Sony BMG label. This may have been the first you've heard of her, but it certainly won't be the last. |

I saw this earlier today... mind-blowing! I love it when someone you don't expect to do anything incredible just blows away all expectations!

Makes me sick the way people judge others just based on the way they look. I'll never undrstand that. Hearing the audience laugh and snicker, and seeing the looks of disdain on the male judges faces, made me sick!!!
Her performance was absolutely amazing, and even rivaled that of the opera singer from a couple years ago, (who the judges also initially looked down on). I was moved by Susan's performance, and I hope that she leads other people who may not look the part, to go after their dreams!! You're awesome Susan. I hope you win it all!!! |

Wow....eat that, Simon and Piers.
How rude was that audience?? Ugh. Like any of those people could probably sing. |

If there's a website where anyone can vote for her (even if we don't get the show) I want to get on it and vote my butt off for her. (Although, as the article said, she's already being signed up). I'm not familiar with Elaine Page, but I do know that Susan's voice is the purest and prettiest I've heard since Sarah Brightman. |

American Idol and America's got talent are glossy versions of the old amateur hour and the gong show, but it goes to show how much unknown talent exists. These shows give these folks, who may lack the funds to promote themselves a chance to be seen and heard by millions.
Last year on America's got talent, Terry Fater, was the overall winner. To me he was one of the greatest performers I have ever seen in my life. He signed a ten year contract in Vegas for ten million dollars. I'm looking forward to this summer and another season. Harvey |

I agree Harvey. I've always loved these talent shows. Watched The Gong Show (although most of the acts on there were outrageous, there was the odd really talented one). Used to watch Star Search (yes, I saw Britney as a little kid) and have watched all season's of America's Got Talent. I LOVED Terry Fater - what a great, new type of act he has and is now very successful in Vegas as you mentioned.
There is a TON of talent that hasn't been discovered. Even the last company I worked for had plenty of talented people. They even had a "company band". Employees who could play instruments or sing formed a band that would play at different company functions. You'd swear they were a professional band. One company I was interviewed for also has a company band and music is very important to them. I was asked if I played any instruments, etc. (thankfully I do). It's good to have stuff like that on your resume these days. What I loved to hear is that Susan is currently unemployed - talk about going from rags to riches over night! I just hope she's got good representation. She's so vunerable that she could really be taken advantage of. |
