I like their books too. So far, I've read two of their books by Alan Young and an Ann Sothern Biography.

Their books on Agnes Moorehead, Peggy Ann Garner and Albert Salmi were awesome reads.

In my lifetime I've been able to watch most 1960s sitcoms (that have their own forums at this site) in syndication locally, at one time or other. For some reason though, Car 54 was not one of them. I've always been interested though because of Fred Gwynne.

Once color TV became well-established, it became more and more difficult to find airings of short-lived black & white series, with some exceptions (The Munsters and The Addams Family remained very popular, for example). Both sitcoms and dramas. That's probably one reason why I used to see Gentle Ben (color, starring Clint Howard and Dennis Weaver) all the time, yet I never saw a single ep of a series like Car 54.

Nick at Nite showed Car 54. Thats where I first saw it.

I was talking more about the stuff I used to watch in my pre-cable years, like the '70s and '80s. Nick at Nite did present b/w stuff that had become a little obscure, like The Donna Reed Show -- or at least that had fallen out of my local channels' packages.

I began watching Nick at Nite in 1990 or so, but I don't recall ever seeing Car 54 on there (I got rid of cable years later). Was it on there in the 1990s or very early 2000s?
