Hey, girl. I was curious on your intake of the 3rd season of Barney Miller; what did you think of the DVD? Any particular episodes that you enjoyed? What are your opinions (pros and cons), etc. And, another thing, (I guess you can label this under the con section); how did you feel about Barney Miller without Gregory Sierra; besides Chano, what character really stood out for you?

Wow - so many questions!! Let me think:
I really enjoyed Season 3 - which began the love/hate partnership of Harris & Dietrich. I liked the brownie ep, but these were my favorites: The Werewolf ("I gotta go to worrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrk!" )Power Failure The Election Fire '77 I really enjoyed seeing diverse guest stars like Doris Roberts, Brett Somers, Florence Halop, Howard Platt, Sal Viscuso, etc. Of course, Gregory Sierra's departure was the biggest con (to me, anyway), since I would've loved to see his character grow and evolve as most of the rest of the cast who stayed till the end did. Battista was not a good idea, and I can see why she only lasted 2-3 episodes. No offense to actress June Gable, but the character was pointless. I actually growled when she went into Spanish rants. Only CHANO can do that! Another con was less Abe Vigoda (though I understand his own show started around this time). The pros were the additions of Steve Landesberg and Ron Carey (who were still recurring in Season 3 and would be regulars from Season 4 to the end). Both were very fresh and added a lot of fun to the proceedings. Dietrich's lines (especially opposite Harris) had me howling. Plus his constant spouting stats, etc. was hilarious. ![]() Most of Season 4's entire episodes are available on imdb - I've totally enjoyed those, too.

Monika, thank you for your feed back. I was curious on your opinion, on what I consider to be one of Barney Miller's best seasons... |

Funny, I loved it when Chano was on and hated to see him go, but I also LOVED Steve Landsberg's character too. And Ron was fabulous. It was one of the few shows who changed up characters during it's run but it was still just as good. Not many shows can boast that.

I kept waiting for Walmart or Borders to get Season 3 in, but they never did, so I ordered a copy from Amazon, should get it the first of next week. Can't wait to watch it.
