My sister chose to tell my parents that she was bisexual while we were driving down the highway at 80 miles an hour, running late for church. I don't recommend that approach

My 1/2 brother was gay and he died of aids about 10 years ago. He came out of the closet at a young age I think about age 15 when my dad found homosexual material in his room. That drove a wedge between them since my dad's religious beliefs are against homosexuality. So sadly I never got to met him.

That's so sad I'm sorry! It seems such a shame that people will actually cut family members out of their lives because of sexuality.

Yeah it is. That's why I totally rebeled against the religion and all religions for that matter. People should be loved for who they are. Not for the color of their skin, financial status, or choice of a mate.

Did you all know that Anne Heche's mom wrote a book? It's called The Truth Comes Out. Not only did Anne have the relationship with Ellen, but Anne's dad was also a closet homosexual who died of AIDS in the early 80s. Here's some background on the book:

"One thing she learned through that difficult time, Nancy says, is that she should not spend her energy trying to convince her daughter to change. Rather, the person that God wanted to change the most was Nancy herself."

I love that line!

Anne Heche is not my favorite person in the world, but I will say she's tried to remain true to herself, and seems to have a very loving mother.

I requested that book out of the library because it looks like a fascinating read. I'm 100% straight myself, but I think real life stories like this are very interesting. I give Nancy Heche a lot of credit for pulling herself up by the bootstraps, going to school and becoming a licensed Christian therapist. I hope that someday she and Anne will reconcile.

Do you gays feel that it's better to come out(you tell someone you are gay or to be "outed/"(Someone finds out that you are gay without you telling them)....
