Cool What type of fiction books do you like to read?

I love a good romantic comedy, or chick lit in general.

I don't care for sappy romances and action/adventure stories and I won't read murder mysteries.

Action adventure, classical literature, mysteries and international, multi-generational sagas always capture my interest!

I don't read much fiction at all, but when I do it's always a multi-generational historical/cultural saga, a la James Michener. I get totally engrossed, but because they are long, take me quite a while to finish, like several weeks.

Suspense
Thrillers
Private Investigator/CIA fiction
Medical Suspense
Romance, including comedic, and suspense
Murder Mystery (as long as there isn't graphic violence)
Animal Stories

Historical fiction all the way. Love Philippa Gregory and all the corset-rippers! You're also likely to find me reading the classics: Jane Austen, Charles Dickens, and (my namesake) Emily Bronte.

My deep, dark secret is that I have a ton of V.C. Andrews books in my bedroom. But I never let anyone catch me reading those in public!

It depends, really...some of the books I read can't easily be fitted into a singular genre. There are some genres that I don't usually read, but that I do enjoy if they're blended with someone else.

For instance, I haven't read a lot of science fiction. I don't dislike SF, it's just something that I haven't tried to read much of. But I do like Robert Heinlein's SF novel aimed at children/teenagers, called Have Spacesuit -Will Travel. One of my favourite books is A Wrinkle in Time which is a blend of science fiction and fantasy. But there are other fantasy books that I'm not keen on and some science fiction books that I'm not keen on.

Basically, I couldn't really say that I really dislike any genre. But I don't always like everything included in each genre either, even the genres I read most.

I voted for "Murder Mystery" and "Other" although in actual fact it's been a long time since I read any murder mysteries.

Lately I've been reading a lot of children/teenage fiction (I still like to read books for kids) and General Fiction. I do like to read fantasy/sci-fi/action-adventure too, but not always predominantly.

I can't even remember the last fiction book I read. You'd have to hold me at gunpoint to get me to read Harry Potter, and even then I'm not so sure I would. lol! I'm a non-fiction guy myself.
