Hi there! Im a new user but have always been a great lover of sitcoms. So much in fact i chose to do my final year University dissertation on them. My question is:
"Given that viewing patterns are undergoing significant changes, is the sitcom doomed?" I thought i would post it on here to see if anyone fancies throwing ideas and their views out there. It would help greatly giving me different angles on it. Cheers! xo |

I think that sitcoms have a lot of negative concoctions attached to them these days because younger people like to watch comedy without laugh tracks, which are on the same level as most modern theatrical comedies, which is something that I've never personally become used to. The only non-laughtrack show I really liked was Malcolm in the Middle, but that show pretty much set the standard for every quirky laughtrackless sitcom.
I'll also never quite understand the irrational hatred towards Two and a Half Men. Maybe younger people just don't get those types of old school sex jokes. I personally hate all the sensitive male characters bowing down to their lovers on hand-and-foot these days, this is the exact reason why stuff like Twilight is popular, because women these days seem to like the sap men. |

Laugh Tracks/ Two And A Half Men
I think laugh tracks are okay If the show is FUNNY but to have the laugh track go crazy after every line is just annoying. |
