Default Eating Challennges- Could you ever handle any of these?

http://www.competitiveeaters.com/challenges.htm

Sometimes, there are restaraunts that will have a challenge:

eat a large amount of food in a specific amount of time and win something.

Two questions:

1. Could you ever consider trying one of these?

2. Have you ever tried anything like this before?

Also, there's a site called EatFeats that shows other challenges like this.

You think LB could handle this?

Rolleyes Competitive eating is so stupid

Pancake Eating Contest Winner Chokes to Death

Link

The winner of a pancake-eating contest has dropped dead while accepting his prize for gorging on 43 of the banana and cream stuffed desserts.

Speed eating 43 banana and cream pancakes is not recommended

Boris Isayev, 48, from west Russia died on stage moments after winning the competition to mark the end of Butter Week.

The contest, which took place in the town of Chernyakhovsk, was part of festivities to celebrate Maslenitsa, the last week before the period of Lent starts.

According to local traditions, meat, fish, dairy products and eggs are forbidden during Lent, as well as dancing and parties.

Witnesses described Mr Isayev as "the most active participant in the contest" adding that he "ate all the types of pancakes on offer and won fairly".

The witness added: "He had really enjoyed the pancakes but then he started foaming at the mouth and went down like a sack of stones.

"People have fainted during the contests before."

Medics tried to revive Mr Isayev after he collapsed while collecting his prize on stage.

The exact cause of death is not clear but doctors believe he choked after a piece of pancake got lodged in his throat.

Celebrations are said to have continued after Mr Isayev's body was taken away in an ambulance.

I used to go to Pizza Hut for their "All you Can Eat" Wednesday specials and eat over 30 slices sometimes, but I wouldn't eat competetively.

I eat a lot of food (and I have eaten in great amounts), but this is why I always remember to swallow or have water on hand.

I don't believe in competitive eating. I do believe in eating a food of large quantity depending on time.

If I ever going to have a large amount of food (I previously have), I eat it very slowly.

BTW, 43 pancakes? The most I ever had in 1 sitting was 6- I can't imagine having 43 at once!

I eat 43 pancakes in a year- if you combine all the pancakes I eat into a 365-day year.

When I was younger, I would go to Cici's, and I could put away 8-10 pieces of pizza. I can't do that anymore.

I certainly could never do the competitive eating on that list. Even when I was younger!!

Cool

Personally I prefer to savour my food. Not cram it down as fast as possible.

Talarico's and Jak's are two of my favorite places to eat. They're both in West Seattle.

I do think that there are some limits between some eating challenges and other things.

If you're given an hour to eat a steak or pizza, that is not as bad as some of these hot dog eating contests.

While not the greatest thing in the world (it can be ridiculous), there's a difference between those restaraunts do and the dumb contests.

The hot-dog eating contests are really ridiculous. It's one thing to take 55 minutes to eat a large amount of food; it's another to cram it down in a few minutes!

I would never consider competitive eating, it doesn't seem very healthy at all. I only eat large amounts of food if I'm at a buffet and I don't go very often.

Why do you always have to be so morbid?

What do you mean by always? If you have an issue with something that I post then I suggest you take it up with Janice. As far as I'm concerned I've done nothing wrong. I wasn't trying to be morbid, My intention was to show that competitive eating can be dangerous and the article does exactly that. I'm not always morbid and I really don't appreciate the insinuation. If you don't like what I post then perhaps you should put me on your ignore list because I shouldn't have to worry about whether or not I'm walking on eggshells when I post something on here.
