Question Who Would You Have Rather Felix End Up With? Gloria or Miriam?

In my opinion, Gloria was a bit of a nag. She was constantly annoyed by Felix and his antics. On the other hand, Felix and Miriam seemed like a great match. Thoughts..................

Gloria.

She almost became a Playboy centerfold.

Game, set, match.

Not sure, because Felix really wanted Gloria back. But I agree, Gloria did act like she was intolerant of Felix and his antics. Miriam seemed to be more accepting of his quirkiness.

Miriam seems to be the better fit, so I go with her.

Miriam - she seemed to understand him better.

You always wonder when a series ends what happened to the characters afterwards - did Felix and Gloria stay together for a long time, or end up apart again pretty quickly?

Felix and Gloria were still married in "The Odd Couple: Together Again" in 1993.

I'd like to know this: Felix was supposedly sating Miriam, yet he showed interest in other women or dated them in-between her appearances. i know the show wasn't the best with continuity and consistencies, but, still.

I don't know about anyone else, but when I saw the final episode, it seemed to me that Gloria was exactly the same as she always was during the run of the series, but the writers tried extra hard to push for a romanticized ending. Miriam seemed more realistic, but honoring Felix's wishes (as the announcer states in the opening credits, "Deep down, he knew she was right, but he also knew that some day he would return to her.") seemed to be the direction the producers wanted to go to push for a happy ending within a running time of 25 minutes.

And yet, in that final episode, the flow of the episode seemed too "rushed,' as Gloria doesn't seem to be that enthusiastic about remarrying Felix, but by the end, decides to. Perhaps it should have been a 2 parter to make it feel a bit more real, instead of "forcing" it to go in the direction of having a happy ending.

Default I Realized...

that some episodes aired out of the order in which they were filmed. But, still- Felix didn't exactly stay true-blue to Miriam when they were supposedly an item.

Miriam was more of a "casual" girlfriend, like Dr Nancy for Oscar- they both disappeared in a very troubling way. Obviously Felix liked her, but his dream was to win Gloria's love again. So even though Miriam was a sweet and understanding character, Gloria's Felix dream match. She had a kind of quirky, brazen side, like her husband so I think the two were fine together. After a five-year break from Felix's manic behaviour, maybe she also grew more tolerant and relaxed.

Exclamation Here Today, Gone Without a Mention

I agree with the consensus, that Gloria was more intolerant of Felix and that Miriam seemed not to be annoyed at Felix's pecadillos. Miriam would have made a better partner for Felix, but Felix, no doubt for neurotic reasons of his own, wanted Gloria.
I have always thought it jarring too how Oscar's girl, Dr. Olson and Felix's girlfriend Miriam are just suddenly dropped from the show without even so much as a mention as to what happened to them or why they were now gone forever. It was just as if they never existed. For that matter Speed and all of the other poker buddies seem to have disappeard from about Season 2 forward. Only one left was Murray the cop. I think Speed returns, but I'm not sure about that. I do know all the buddies are also zapped out of existence the same way Miriam & Doc Olson were.:confused
