Taylors in Hollywood episodes - Sitcoms Online Message Boards

Yesterday I watched the episodes in season 6 where Andy, Aunt Bee and Opie take a trip to Hollywood to see the filming of the movie "Sheriff Without A Gun". During the trip, Andy gets a picture taken with the blonde actress from the movie, Helen sees the picture in a newspaper and gets mad. She calls Andy at the hotel and she ends up hanging up on him. Soon after that, Andy goes to the actress's apartment and then out to dinner! I know he ends up coming home early, but why would he go to her apartment knowing how upset Helen is. I don't think Andy was being considerate towards Helen, or am I looking too deeply in this? What do you think?

I think he was angry and went to her apartment to spite Helen because once he was there, he said he shouldn't be there. I guess once he cooled down, he realized it was a mistake.

One of the best color episodes, I think. Ruta Lee is drop-dead gorgeous in her scenes as Darlene Mason. And great acting by Andy.

Helen was being unreasonable in her reaction/jealousy without really knowing the facts, IMHO, and Andy is understandably upset based on that. I agree with honeybea's post above.

It's interesting that Gavin MacLeod was playing Andy in the movie based on him, where in an earlier b/w season he played one of the criminals who were faking a potential movie about Andy -- with their eyes on robbing the Mayberry bank safe.
