Can someone please tell me what Gilligan is doing in the opening scene? He keeps looking into the bushes.
My son says Dubov likes girls because he wants to paint Ginger. What do you think of Dubov; do you like him, find him annoying, etc.? |

Dubov, for all is ego, seems like a sad artist, living in fear of rejection. I'm not particularly fond of him (or his art, for that matter), but if he wasn't so self centered I'd almost feel sorry for him since nobody understands his art. But as it is, he gets on my nerves!
An interesting statement concerning Ginger's moral code can be fond in this episode in her reaction to DuBov's wanting her to pose as what she thinks is a belly dancer. "I happen to be an actress, not a stripper." Did anyone else catch the title of the Professor's book: "The History of Tree Surgery"? It made me smile! I wonder where they found such an absurd outfit for Ginger to wear. I know I wouldn't want to be painted a week and a half in such an uncomfortable position! I thought Tina Louise's performance in this episode was one of her best in Season One. She brought a particular energy to Ginger that drew interest to an otherwise mediocre scene/plot line. In general, I think her portrayal as the sarcastic, angry, if you will, snarky side of Ginger are always entertaining. |
