Default Is this now the norm for Network TV In 2009?

Was watching the new ABC sitcom called "Better Off Ted" and it was like 4 commercial breaks during the show. makes it hard to get into a show, damm what happened to the 1 break at 14min and the final break at the end of the show?

Does CBS, Fox, and NBC all do the same thing?

I hate that, especially when its a half hour show. But, even networks like Nick and Nite do it - so annoying.

Actually, I believe CBS does something a little different with some of their shows. I was watching The Mentalist last night, and there were only about 4 commercials the entire hour - but, the commercials were 4 or so minutes, a little longer than usual. I like that much better, because we're not getting commercials every 5 or 6 minutes.

And, it must be working, because its in the top 3 rated scripted shows of the season, let alone the #1 new show of the season. CBS really does good with not airing too many commercials. Can't vouch for the other networks that much. I don't watch ABC at all. Medium didn't have too many commercials, about the normal amount and length on NBC.

I think you mea TV Land, N@N does not have a lot of breaks for their shows. TV Land does that like this morning, they showed 3 commcercial breaks during the 15 min of the Jeffersons. LOL

This is why I record things, so I can skip these long MTV-esque commercial breaks. Fortunately Fox still breaks their half-hour cartoons into 3 acts with short commercial breaks as they have been for the past 20 years.

It's so weird watching Night Court on DVD now and realizing how short the show is unedited (even with missing scenes from the original broadcast added back in), because TV Land makes it seem like episodes are an hour long with all the commercials they have.

TV Land too, but I meant NAN. They are what, 3 or 4 commercials per show? And I'm not sure if it's just me, but the commercials seem like they take forever to end-LOL

I've noticed this pattern on most networks now:

You get a bit of a teaser of the show - then commercial break - come back and it's now 8 minutes into the half hour. At 15 minutes after there is another commercial break - then 8 minutes later and another one and then then final "tag" for the end of the show.

Seems like more and more we're watching a half hour of commercials with a few show breaks thrown in.
