Default Brady Bunch Mini-Marathon Tonight on TV Land

According to my cable guide,

I have the whole series on DVD, but two of my favorites are in the marathon. Amateur Night (The Silver Platters Episode) and Bobby's Hero. (Jessie James Episode.) The time says 12 midnight CST, but if you plan to watch or record, set your time to five minutes before hand because TV Land often does not start on schedule.

Just curious, what was it about Bobby's Hero did you like?

I do agree, I loved Amateur Night.

I do like Bobby's Hero.

Where to begin with it's positives:

The storyline is brilliant because it is ahead of its time. (Mike's line "Today's criminals will probably become tomorrow's folk hero's. Kids brining guns to school.) The interaction with Burt Mustin and Mike Lookinland has a very powerful impact. It's amazing. This episode is so good, you'll even forget the silliness of some of the other episodes. It's probably the only Brady Bunch episode with no comedy in it. The only unrealistic element may be "Jessie James" in the dream sequence saying "Bang" instead of actual using the sound of a gun. But doing that might have been too intense for a family oriented show.

According to Barry, Bobby was originally supposed to worship a skyjacker, but the network said, "That's a little too real" and nixed it. In the dream sequence, they shot the scene with no rehearsal for Mike. Lloyd Schwartz took him outside before shooting began and filled his head with terrible images of things like his own parents being shot, or his dog killed and went all out to instill fear in "Bobby" for that scene. "You are not to see the Brady's die funny." Than he gave him all those images to remember above. So when you see Bobby near hysterical in that sequence, it was real emotion.

Than after the take was completed, Lloyd explained to Mike why they shot the scene as they did.
