Just watched the crappy SPIKE version of this.

This is the case of the young woman who disappeared in Negril, Jamaica. It was believed that a Jamaican man she met there may have been responsible.

Was there any update to this case?

I tend to question the theory that she willingly disappeared in the Jamican hills to live with the Rasta. This case has always been of interest because I am of Jamaican descent and have actually known some of the Rastafarians in that area of the country.

I tend to think that the whole runaway theory tends to be a little stereotypical of how people view Rastafarians.

I have never seen any updates to that story or read anything online that gave any more info.

I don't think she decided to leave her old life behind and move in with the Rasta man because, for one thing, her bags were packed in her hotel and the only thing known to be missing was her bathing suit.

Even in a new life, under a new identity, in a new country, she'd still need her undies, her night clothes, a pair of shoes, and some street clothes.

Plus, wasn't it proven that she was actively trying to get a flight home? She was there on business with a coworker, as a travel writer. The coworker happened to get an earlier flight out, after their original flight out was cancelled.

I think that once she was at the resort alone, she just happened to run into the wrong guy(s) when she was by herself. Maybe it was someone she thought she knew from the few days she spent there, or maybe it was a stranger in a crime of opportunity.

In regards to Natalie Holloway, If she was a sex slave, I can;t imagine her abducters or 'owner" would let her live considering all the publicity this case has garnered.

Sadly, I believe that Natalie is dead.

I must admit, I do know a lot of the details in the Holloway case. My first guess is that Joran Van Der Sloot or his friends were definitely involved. But I'm not sure of the case for or against them.

If UM was around this case definitely would be done.

Any thoughts on the Holloway case? Perhaps we should create a separate thread?

I haven't studied Natalee's case in depth, I only know some stuff from what I've seen on TV and bits and pieces that I've read. For now, I think that she was probably a bit naive, felt comfortable in her surroundings with the local guys whow were close to her age, and unlike older girls in their late 20s, who are more used to keeping an eye on their drinks at the bar, 18 year old Natalee was just getting into the bar scene and wasn't used to the rules that the regulars know to follow regarding protecting your drinks from being tampered with. Heck, who knows, maybe Joran had a friend behind the bar who drugged her drinks before she was even served.

Here in the states, she was 3 years too young to be legally served, so she probably hadn't had a lot of experience with bars and clubs that serve alcohol. I think van Der SLUT (yes, deliberate mispelling) and his buddies took advantage of her trust, and either slipped something into her drink or convinced her to do recreational drugs with them, under the guise of just having a nice party on her last day in Aruba.

After she was incapable of protecting herself, I think she was gang raped, and either killed on purpose or died as a result of her attackers miscalculating the amounts of drugs they gave her, especially since it was mixed with alcohol.

Van Der SLUT, being a spoiled rich kid whose daddy always rescues him from his bad decisions, and his buddies probably took her body out to the ocean, weighted her with chains, blocks, anchor, etc, and dumped her overboard, hoping nature would take it's course.

Unless van Der SLUT's dad is involved in human traficking, I don't think she was sent off to that fate. Joran the SLUT doesn't have the sophistication to have the right connections, and make the right transactions with the right people, imo, to pull off such a complicated crime.

I think it was simply some guys who planned to drug and rape a pretty girl, knowing that they could get away with it. But then she died unexpectedly and they got rid of the body, either with or without daddy's help.

I agree.

It also does not help that they had the awful Aruban police department investigating this one. They could vie for Boulder, CO as being the worst detectives.
