Maybe I missed it but I can't recall a single episode in which Homer wasn't threatening the Cannonball and Bradleys. He was a railroad executive no younger than his late 50's at a time when many railroad companies themselves were being put out to pasture. Anyone else wish there'd been an episode in which Homer thought he was being scrapped and suddenly tried to make nice with those he'd been so mean to?

Homer Bedloe was one of those characters you love to hate. He was played by an incredible character actor named Charles Lane. Charles did such an amazing job creating a character with absolutely no redeeming values that I don't think it would have been believable if he played nice for any reason. The Bradley Family wouldn't have bought it for a second and neither would the audience.

Nobody could play a curmudgeon better than Charles Lane. As for Homer, he should be forced to walk to Pixley and guest visit to Green Acres to eat Lisa's specialty - ceramic hot cakes LOL!
