Calif. court issues arrest warrant for Lindsay Lohan - Sitcoms Online Message Boards

BEVERLY HILLS, Calif. – An arrest warrant has been issued for actress Lindsay Lohan, possibly in connection with a 2007 drunken driving arrest after she crashed her Mercedes-Benz into a tree, police said Saturday.

The warrant was issued Friday by a judge in Beverly Hills Superior Court and carries a bail amount of $50,000, police Sgt. Mike Foxen said.

"We believe it has to do with her arrest for DUI," Foxen said. He said he did not have any other details about the warrant.

Lohan's publicist, Leslie Sloane-Zelnik, and one of her attorneys, Shawn Chapman Holley, didn't immediately respond to calls and e-mails seeking comment Saturday.

The 22-year-old star of the 2004 movie "Mean Girls" was arrested during the Memorial Day weekend in 2007 after crashing her Mercedes in Beverly Hills.

She was arrested again last July after the mother of her former personal assistant reported that her car was being chased by an SUV. Police said Lohan was at the wheel of the SUV and she was arrested in Santa Monica.

In connection with those cases, Lohan pleaded guilty in August 2007 to two misdemeanor counts of being under the influence of cocaine; no contest to two counts of driving with a blood-alcohol level above 0.08 percent and one count of reckless driving.

Lohan spent 84 minutes in jail and had to perform community service and undergo drug-rehabilitation treatment.

At the time, she released a statement through her publicist that read: "It is clear to me that my life has become completely unmanageable because I am addicted to alcohol and drugs."

Lohan also was placed on probation for three years. A prosecutor warned that she if she violated the terms of the probation Lohan could face up to a year in jail on each of the drunk-driving and cocaine charges and 90 days on the reckless-driving charge. Violations could include failing to complete a drug test or report to her probation officer.

For her own good they should throw the book at her, it will teach her a lesson. Celebrities seem to think they are above the law, wrong!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Maybe Lindsay wouldn't get in so much trouble with the law if she wasn't such a mean girl. Oh well, I guess that's what she gets for driving fully loaded. It must have been a freaky Friday for her yesterday when she found out there was an arrest warrant out for her.

Lohan Arrest Warrant 'Misunderstanding'

The warrant issued for the arrest of Lindsay Lohan was "born out of a misunderstanding", according to the actress' legal team.

Los Angeles authorities issued the warrant for the Mean Girls star on Friday in relation to her 2007 driving under the influence (DUI) conviction, which saw her sentenced to 24 hours in jail.

And now Lohan could be subject to arrest if police catch up with her.

Beverly Hills Police Lieutenant Mark Rosen says, "We are not actively looking for Ms. Lohan at this time. We are not anticipating her surrender this weekend. But if she comes in contact with police, she's subject to arrest.

"As for why we're not actively looking for her, that's not our procedure for this type of warrant. Her attorney is hoping to resolve this issue in the coming week. If it's not resolved, I'm sure we'll negotiate her voluntary surrender."

But the star's lawyer, Shawn Chapman Holley, has played down the incident: "Since her case was resolved, Ms. Lohan has been in compliance with all the terms and conditions of her probation and all orders of the court. The warrant issued on Friday was, in our view, born out of a misunderstanding which I am confident I can clear up next week."

Lohan is expected to attend a hearing on Monday morning in a Beverly Hills court.

Los Angeles Da spokeswoman Sandi Gibbons says, "The judge apparently has indicated that Ms. Lohan should be in attendance."

The 22-year-old is currently serving a three-year probation term for the 2007 DUI incident.
