I agree with most folks that when they brought in Darren #2, that was somewhat the point of no return but I think even by the Color Years, Darren #1 was devolving from a caring, if perplexed spouse, to a short-fused, hysterical martinet.
Any other thoughts? |

I gotta disagree with you on this one. To me Darrin stayed the same throughout Dick York's run on the show. When Dick Sargent came to the show he bought in his style of acting to Darrin. Then again I think I am one of the few people who actually liked Dick Sargent as Darren.

The Great Darrin Switch of 1969 - Dick York was, is and will always be Darrin. No offense to Dick Sargent, but no one else could've filled those shoes. I also think the show jumped when the scripts were being endlessly recycled. It seemed that so many of the DS era episodes were rehashes of the DY shows.

I agree with you. Dick York is Darrin Stephens and Dick Sargeant could never fill his shoes. they did not have the chemistry that dick york and elizabeth montgomery had.

Whoa hear that, somebody besides me appreicates Dick Sargent. Got to admit I liked Dick York, he brought more of a physical comedy style to the show. I dont think I could pick between the two. |

The correct phrase is "Jump the Shark". I think the show did so when York left, however I must admit that season 6 and 7 really weren't that bad. Number 8, on the other hand, was not good at all in my opinion.
