I imagine it's just going to take some time.

Imagine how traumatic all this had to be for them, not to mention there's no telling what The Maples may have told about their parents.

While the possibility of them never wanting to see the parents can't be ruled out, I would wager on them eventually wanting to take part in a reunion.. but you just can't know for sure.

I think they believed all the brainwashing crap that their grandparents put them through. The brainwashing was supported by false memories implanted by the leading questions asked by authorities, etc. to the point that the lies have become the actual memories these kids have of their childhoods.

They probably really remember those things happening to them, even though they never did, just because the memories were falsely implanted by a bunch of idiots, either on purpose or by using faulty methods of interrogation and psychology.

Best I can remember about Judge Corlew, I think the old curmudgeon is still on the bench. He should have been retired, as a favor to the family, via the cemetery, and it wouldn't have hurt my feelings. He defied all protocol and standard procedures and gave those children to kidnappers who implanted memories of sexual abuse and satanic rituals in their minds. He's as guilty as the perps, imo.

If they don't want a reunion, they may, depending on their natures, at least want a confrontation to clarify and settle things. Perhaps they are just debating what to say and how best to go about it.

Could be a number of reasons. Essentially their parents (through no fault of their own) weren't apart of their lives and this pretty heavy news to deal with. Maybe they don't want to deal with the media storm that would come with it. Also, possibly, their grandparents weren't lying about the abuse and if so, they remember it and want nothing to do with them.

If they remember abuse...I'm thinking of the guy on Unsolved Mysteries who, speaking of his abusive father, said how he thought he'd like to meet him as an adult and "invite him to do it to me again." If they are empowered as adults they might want to have it out, ask why, any number of things...unless they don't want to dredge up painful associations.

Different strokes for different folks. Some people might do as you have said, and some might just want to forget about it as much as they can and move on with their lives.

There should be some news about this case this week - I think Marvin Maple's hearing is scheduled for March 17. Maybe Bobby and Christi will come out of the woodwork and we'll hear some of their story.

Default Can't they at least make contact with their brother?

Now that it will be another 2 months before even a preliminary hearing is held, I hope that Christi & Bobby can find it in their hearts to at least contact their brother Michael.

I know they may have been advised by legal counsel to not contact the Baskins, but it's pretty sad to not contact your own flesh and blood brother for another 2 months. He's been as much of a victim in all this as they have. Whoever you believe (Baskin side or Maple) he was also just a kid at the time as they were, and as they have been, was deprived of his sibling(s).

Michael has opened the door for them to do so, by providing Mark with a letter to read to them and his little "spider-man" toy & story.

No one knows why but them. I think it is probably a combination of many reasons.

1. Believe they were abused. Why would you want to see your parents if you "remember" being abused?

2. Loyalty to the man who raised them. If they seek out the Baskins it could look bad on Marvin Maple.

3. Legally advised not to.....not even their brother. Anyone could slip up and say something harmful to a case.

4. Don't remember them, feel no attachment.

5. Don't want the media circus.

6. Huge adjustment! I couldn't imagine realizing my life was a lie then opening my arms to those who revealed it to me. I'd much rather stick by what I know, rather than jumping at what might be the truth.

Any of these reasons would, and probably are, holding them back from contacting the Baskins. I think eventually, one of these days, probabaly after the trial is over, they will communicate in some way with the Baskins. That's my prayer anyway. The Baskins and Christi and Bobby have been through so much. I'm sure it'd be a blessing to the Baskins to just hear their voices.

I just don't understand how you can't remember that your name has been changed 4 times? Isn't that proof enough to Kristy and Bobby that they were kidnapped?

They could have been told that it was for their own protection.

They may know their grandparents took them, but their heads were filled with suggestions of why they took them that became false memories.

Right, and that would have worked when they were kids - but now that they are adults with police, media, and the entire world telling them "Hey, you were definitely kidnapped, here's proof" - how can they still not get it? You would think that when Marvin was put in jail, that doubts would seep into their minds about all the various name changes, moving around, etc.

I'm not saying they should be best friends with their parents right away, and I won't ever know how the kids feel because I don't know what it's like to be brainwashed, but this whole story is just making me really mad.

Maybe they actually were molested and knew what was going on. If they weren't, this probably turned their lives upside down. If they want to have contact with their parents let them do it at their own time.
