Question Any avid walkers/joggers here at S.O.?

I've actually made walking a huge hobby of mine over the last 6 months or so. I find that it's a good way to relieve stress. I usually walk an average of five miles per day, which is about 11,000 steps. I know this because I have one of those pedometers that keeps track of It, and how many steps you take and everything. The recommended amount of steps that a person should take each day is 10,000, and so I always try to beat that by atleast 1000. lol! In the morning, sometimes I'll drive with my mom to her work, and then walk home, and that's almost exactly 4 miles. On a great day, I can walk up to 15 miles, but that's a pretty rare thing. Anyway, are there any other avid walkers/joggers/runners here at S.O.? Just curious.

For about 3 years I didn't have a car to get around in and I had to walk EVERYWHERE.

So eventually I got used to walking and LOVE IT! I can't wait for the weather to get warm again so I can start walking as much as possible

Thumbs up

Walking is a great way to relieve stress. It also helps with depression. For me anyway. My family likes to go walking at least 3 times a week. We have a lot of beautiful parks around here and it always helps to just clear you rmind and breath some fresh air. Not to mention the great exercise.

I like walking. I never cared for jogging. Walking does make me feel better, plus when I walk a take a plastic bag with me and pick up trash.

I should get more excercise - I think I'll start taking more walks when the weather warms up.

Actually this topic inspired me to get off my ass and walk a mile, then run another one. So 2 miles in total today on the treadmill. I hate it, but it's too cold to do it outside. So thanks lol. Hopefully I'll get back into my exercise routine.
