Question Any tips for getting rid of headaches?

I have headaches often, and have had a bad one all day, and so far nothing I've tried has helped. I drank caffeine, (which usually helps), took a couple Ibuprofens, went for a walk and got some fresh air, and even rubbed my temples for about 15 minutes, and none of that even helped a bit. Do you guys have any remedies that work for you in regards to getting rid of headaches? I think the fact that I haven't been able to sleep for over 30 hours is probably a contributing factor to the problem, but I just can't sleep. I end up laying there for hours wide awake. Anyway, any suggestions you might have for me would be appreciated. Thanks!!

If you're having them often then I suggest seeing a Dr. ASAP. Headaches, especially frequent ones can be a sign of something more serious. If you feel that seeing a Dr. isn't necessary then I suggest getting a bottle of oil of peppermint from the health food store. Dab some on pain area with a cottonball and you should see results soon. Works for me.

Thank you so much for the advice Zoneboy, it is very much appreciated. I actually use to take migraine medication, but went off of it after the episodes started lessening. I've noticed though that my headaches have been getting more severe again, and more frequent, so I will definitely mention that to my doctor during my next appointment. I will also give the oil of peppermint thing a try if this lasts much longer, or the next time I have a bad headache. Thanks again!!

by the way be sure prior to using anything from health food stores so that it does not counteract with any meds that you may be on now

It's good that you brought that up, because I'm on quite a few medications. I'll be sure to look things up before trying anything like that. Thanks again, this advice really helps.

Do you really think that a Dr. is going to recommend any remedy from a health food store? In fact, Those that do believe in and use them in their practices are subject to gun-drawn raids ordered by the FDA. If he were to call his Dr. about the oil of peppermint, The Dr. will most-likely say that he's never heard of it and can't recommend it. Here are a few testimonials from those that swear by it.

I get headaches a lot, too. And at least once a month, I'll get a REALLY bad one. It is possible it's a side effect of medication. I'm on medication, too, and I think that could be one of the problems as to why I get so many headaches. I have for years. As for remedies, I wish I had advice because I have the same problem you do.

From a purely spiritual basis positive affirmations could help. (I really don't know what to suggest medical-wise.) I know when feeling ill that it's not easy to make yourself believe that you're feeling okay but a focus on and belief in good health could be of some help.

Stop hitting yourself with that hammer and your head will stop hurting.

Seriously, I hope you feel better. I find just relaxing in a dark, quiet room with a cup of tea helps.

When I have a headache sometimes a nice hot shower helps. Hope you feel better soon.
